Paul Connor to Prove a Point

Paul Connor to Prove a Point

Drop the O for Connor the ex Swansea and Rochdale legend can do more than a job for us this season. At 6 foot two he is an interesting trialist for the Imps.

Still Rochdale`s record signing at £150,000 Paul Connor is a hardworking, skilful striker, who has forged very effective partnerships with both Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent. In short he is here to make goals for a Fagan but Paul is also a composed finisher given the chance. Forget the Cheltenham era, for here he was playing in a side struggling both on the pitch and in financial terms as ex Imp legend Mister Finnegan will testify.

Paul has always been a quality forward who has done the business consistently in League 1 though the Championship was a step too far for him. He helped Swansea up the Leagues and is more than capable of doing the same with the Imps. Though he is not what you would call a great goal scorer he is a scorer of great goals and has notched some quality strikes during his career. If Paul can recapture some of the quality he has shown at Swansea and Rochdale we could have landed a very useful striker indeed. If you like humdingers and curlers with your Saturday afternoon this is the guy to do it.

We will get a chance to have a look at him tomorrow more than likely and wish him well.

He may be ok as a squad player, but i fear his best is behind him. If he has been brought in as such, all well and good, although it is hardly good man mangement for Jackson to indicate as such. I sincerely hope we are not putting our main hopes on him, although i accept he worked as a good foil for Nugent and Trundle ( several year ago now)

He is the second target man to help Fagan Hutch and Adams

Not very inspiring is my opinion. There must surely be better strikers available. His strike rate is not great.

His recent record doesn't fill me with much confidence. that said he has shown over the years that he has quality. Doubt he would be our first choice signing anyway, and he would be decent enough back up, rather than the inexperienced Adams adn hutchinson and LJL anyway.
