Premiership Trotters Face Lincolnshire's Finest

Lincoln City will travel to Bolton in the third Round of the FA Cup. Gary Megson`s side lay 18th in the Premiership and the optimistic Imp hordes will travel in our thousands to this one (2,500 at least). A battling performance could see us either bringing them back to the Bank for a sellout replay or, dare we dream, sneak one of the potential shocks of the round.

Though not one of the big four this will be a dream tie for the Imps with over 20,000 fans likely to be at the 28,000 capacity Reebok stadium.

The ties will take place around the weekend of Jan 2nd with the away game at Burton now cancelled.

Come on you mighty Imps.

Initial reactons were a bit 'meh . . . ' but on reflection, it could have been a whole lot worse and not that much better, they're a premiership club after all!

good result for bolton, as the draw went on longer it was looking likely we were going to get united away, we dont usually get these sort of games at home... and who is to say bolton arn't glamorous, nice stadium... erm... Gavin McCann

Could have been better, but a whole lot worse. Plans afoot for how to get up from the West Country. I think the 20,000 attendanceyou quoted is very optimistic, i think it may be only just over half that?

Bolton's last home FA cuptie against Sheff Utd produced a gate of just over 15,000. Before that they had a televised replay against Arsenal (21,000) and before that a televised home tie again against Arsenal with only 13,000 present. 10000 @ an average £10 would bring us £40K from the gate so it could be worse.

Boltons last home cup tie this season was the League Cup against West Ham on September 22 when there was 8,050 fans so that isn't many to make a lot of money for the Imps. But up to press their average league gate is 21,872 And their admission prices are dearer than at Lincoln so let's hope we get a full house to get the Imps some money But they are a team that are beatable by a lower league club like ours if we take our chances & have some luck for a change Sutton Imp
