Overall Player Ratings For September

City could only manage eight points from twenty one in a month packed with winnable games, so don't expect the player ratings to make particularly good reading this month. The team average this month is 5.23, whereas in August it was 6.06. Who said we couldn't be worse?

The Good

In August Jamie Taylor took the player of the month award with an average score of 6.99, but no City player has managed to hit such dizzy heights this time around. Unsurprisingly the best scorer was 'keeper Paul Farman, who has put in a string of solid performances and earned a rating of 6.26. That score puts him ahead overall too, with a season average of 6.44. His scores were also amongst the most consistent, with the range being 1.33.

Nicky Nicolau came in second place, maintaining fairly consistent scores before his game changing 7.67 against Nuneaton, whilst Vadaine Oliver wasn't too far behind, mustering an average score of 5.87. Interestingly if you averaged his starts (having been involved in poor cameos against Ebbsfleet and Alfreton) he actually manages a score of 6.63 and would have comfortably been player of the month! I believe one poster claimed he had no resemblance to a footballer at the start of this month, but that has soon changed! His Telford performance (8.00) was the highest scoring mark of the month, and his first home start v Hyde wasn't far behind either (7.89).

Strike partner Colin Larkin scored 5.68 having been man of the match against Ebbsfleet and scoring well against Hyde, as well as in his Nuneaton cameo. His ineffective performance against Forest Green (4.00) cost him a higher mark although it's hard to criticise the Irish striker having been so bereft of service.

Conner Robinson also had a decent month, with his substitute performances and one start scoring the youngster an average of 5.92.

The Bad

John Nutter has not been a hit with the fans this month, with his brand of not overlapping and not doing much else in general earning him a score of 4.84. Unfortunately Paul Robson is the alternative and two starts and one substitute appearance give him a score of 4.27. Any full backs around?

Peter Bore can apparently play at full back, but I'm glad we're spared that nightmare if his performances on the right wing are anything to go by. Bore's return was meant to give City more end product, but instead he has just caused moves to end. His rating of 4.22 is not for the squeamish. Gary Mills' 4.39 isn't much to write home about either.

The Ugly

Finally, and Alan Power only played one and a bit games this month, but no matter how much Holdsworth worries about injury his rating of 3.75 for September is horrifying!

Keep rating the Imps and let's hope for a few more in the 'good' section rather than the 'bad' in October!

Good article. I'm sure Holdsworth could put a positive spin on it all though.

Good article, and really shows that our players have been at best average! And in general poor.

Very good article which seems to sum up the players fairly. !mpetuous - I too shared your opinion in his early games but fair play to him for proving us wrong. I fear that his great performances have overly effected our attacking style and he now seems to be our only option. Need to mix it up and use the wingers to ease the pressure on him.

Hopefully the ratings will be much higher this much although I can't see that being the case with the games we have got coming up!

In fairness to you guys Oliver looked awful in his early sub appearances. I'm sure we are all happy to be proved wrong!

He looked terrible but he has shown recently that he isn't such a poor player after all! Hopefully he continues to improve.

In that first sub appearance he could barely control the ball, so it is a vast improvement. For me the service to him and the other strikers has to improve greatly if we are to get regular goals from any of our strikers.

Oliver was indeed awful in his first few games on the wing. I thankfully made no statements to this effect else I would be apologising too!

Well, Colin Larkin has not been the rip-roaring success a few on this site thought he was going to be.

I also said Oliver was terrible in the first 3 games, but just goes to show that if he can improve his performances like he has done by 100% then some of the others should take note and improve their's and if that happened we will be pushing towards the play offs.

To be fair to Larkin I think he is still trying to get match fit. The more he plays the better he seems to be getting but it does take time if you've not played for a while before signing for City.

Knowing DH he'll probably let him go before he is 'match fit' then!

Larkin has never scored lots of goals in his career, think he could be a decent support striker, but we need a goal scorer like Taylor...oh we have him on the bench!

I have done some research into the official (PA) ratings for Lincoln players this season and these are the averages thus far. Make of it what you will, but according to these ratings, Paul Robson and Alan Power are two of the best performers thus far. Also, in all games this season, there have been just three occasions when a City player has been given an 8/10: Farman, Boyce and Oliver. Gray and Nutter have so far failed to score more than a 6 per game, along with Hutchison, along with Robinson, Bore and Fofana. Here are the averages up to and including the Forest Green match: Tom Miller: 6.6 Alan Power: 6.57 Paul Farman: 6.5 Paul Robson: 6.5 Gary Mills: 6.2 Andrew Boyce: 6.18 Jamie Taylor: 6.09 Mamadou Fofana: 6.0 David Morgan: 6.0 Dan Gray: 5.92 Nicky Nicolau: 5.91 Graham Hutchison: 5.86 Adam Smith: 5.83 John Nutter: 5.82 Jake Sheridan: 5.75 Rob Duffy: 5.67 Conner Robinson: 5.67 Vadaine Oliver: 5.64 Colin Larkin: 5.62 Peter Bore: 5.5 Luke Daley: 5.2 Mark McCammon: 5.0

Taylor definitely needs to be starting games. Think we need to be using Larkin for his experience because he won't score many goals.
