City could only manage eight points from twenty one in a month packed with winnable games, so don't expect the player ratings to make particularly good reading this month. The team average this month is 5.23, whereas in August it was 6.06. Who said we couldn't be worse?
The Good
In August Jamie Taylor took the player of the month award with an average score of 6.99, but no City player has managed to hit such dizzy heights this time around. Unsurprisingly the best scorer was 'keeper Paul Farman, who has put in a string of solid performances and earned a rating of 6.26. That score puts him ahead overall too, with a season average of 6.44. His scores were also amongst the most consistent, with the range being 1.33.
Nicky Nicolau came in second place, maintaining fairly consistent scores before his game changing 7.67 against Nuneaton, whilst Vadaine Oliver wasn't too far behind, mustering an average score of 5.87. Interestingly if you averaged his starts (having been involved in poor cameos against Ebbsfleet and Alfreton) he actually manages a score of 6.63 and would have comfortably been player of the month! I believe one poster claimed he had no resemblance to a footballer at the start of this month, but that has soon changed! His Telford performance (8.00) was the highest scoring mark of the month, and his first home start v Hyde wasn't far behind either (7.89).
Strike partner Colin Larkin scored 5.68 having been man of the match against Ebbsfleet and scoring well against Hyde, as well as in his Nuneaton cameo. His ineffective performance against Forest Green (4.00) cost him a higher mark although it's hard to criticise the Irish striker having been so bereft of service.
Conner Robinson also had a decent month, with his substitute performances and one start scoring the youngster an average of 5.92.
The Bad
John Nutter has not been a hit with the fans this month, with his brand of not overlapping and not doing much else in general earning him a score of 4.84. Unfortunately Paul Robson is the alternative and two starts and one substitute appearance give him a score of 4.27. Any full backs around?
Peter Bore can apparently play at full back, but I'm glad we're spared that nightmare if his performances on the right wing are anything to go by. Bore's return was meant to give City more end product, but instead he has just caused moves to end. His rating of 4.22 is not for the squeamish. Gary Mills' 4.39 isn't much to write home about either.
The Ugly
Finally, and Alan Power only played one and a bit games this month, but no matter how much Holdsworth worries about injury his rating of 3.75 for September is horrifying!
Keep rating the Imps and let's hope for a few more in the 'good' section rather than the 'bad' in October!
