This Saturday sees the Imps take on FC Halifax Town at Sincil Bank in the fourth qualifying round of the infamous FA Cup. The Imps will not want to go out of this competition before it has even began like they did last season when we went out after a replay against Alfreton Town.
Halifax have qualified for this round of the Cup after they beat Chester in the previous round by 3-1 in a replay after they drew the initial match 1-1. They entered the FA Cup in the 2nd qualifying round but they made light work of Abbey Hey as they beat them by a comfortable 6-0 scoreline at the Shay.
The away side have also had their preparations for this match disrupted when their league encounter against Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday night was called off for a water logged pitch. This could work to their advantage though as their players should reap the benefit of a few days extra rest.
Their season so far has been decent. The side currently lay in 5th place in the Conference North standings and will be looking to be involved in the promotion challenge come the end of the season.
Lincoln will have had a week to come to terms with the brilliant 4-2 away victory over Wrexham. Manager David Holdsworth will be looking to make sure that we are in the hat for the first round proper this year. Holdsworth is likely to have to make do without Nutter, even though he played in a midweek friendly, he is unlikely to return with Gilbert deputising so well at left back.
Midfielder Adam Morgan could return for what would be his final match of his current loan agreement from Nottingham Forest after he was with the Northern Ireland under 19's last weekend. Alan Power could play a more prominent role after making a second half appearance last weekend now he has recovered form injury and I would hope Taylor will be partnered again by Robinson in attack.
This is a game I fully expect us to win after our brilliant performance last weekend to Wrexham, before that result I thought it would be tough but Halifax are only a decent side from the league below us and I would like to think we should be able to gain a comfortable win and make it two wins in a week before we return to the relegation battle against Stockport in our next match.
