Imps take on Halifax again

Tomorrow night sees the Imps travel to The Shay to face Halifax Town again in this fourth qualifying round of the FA cup Replay after the two sides played out a goalless draw at Sincil Bank on Saturday afternoon.

Its safe to say that the Halifax fans went home both the happier and more confident from Saturdays match, if you were a neutral you would struggle to see which side is in the Conference Premier and which side is in the Conference North. Whilst overall the match was fairly even I felt it was edged by Halifax who played a system that Lincoln just didn`t get to grips with over the 90 minutes. And this performance will give Neil Aspin the belief that they will be the side to face Walsall in the first round of the FA cup.

David Holdsworth on the other hand seems to be back at the drawing board, just one week on from beating Wrexham 4-2 the team put in yet another poor performance that seems to point to that result being just a one off in a season that has ultimately been hugely disappointing so far. The FA cup gives the Imps the chance to bring a bit of cheer to the fans and also bring in a little bit of money to help the club in the future, if we get through this match we receive around £14k in prize money alone, not an amount to be sniffed at in our current predicament.

With the match being so soon it is unlikely either side will make drastic changes. Lincoln will be without Morgan who was sent off late on for a reckless tackle, he will serve a three match ban as it was a straight red card. It is unlikely the likes of Power or Oliver will be quite fit enough to play from the start but I hope we do see them take some part if needed, Olivers physical presence does seem to have been missed when we are lumping balls forward and Power can hardly do any worse then Mills or Smith on Saturdays performance.

This will be a very tough match and whilst I hope that we do get into the first round and play Walsall I am unsure. Saturday proved that there was no gap between the two sides and with home advantage Halifax could be regarded as favourites to go through.
