Imps welcome Stockport to Sincil Bank this weekend

This weekend sees the Imps take on Stockport County at Sincil Bank in a 3pm kick off on Saturday. The Imps come into this match with a four game unbeaten run and have kept clean sheets in the previous two matches. Lincoln are only one put outside of the relegation zone after fifteen matches on a rather paltry sixteen points. Stockport sit more comfortably in eleventh and have amassed twenty points so far.

Stockport have lost only once in their previous six outings and have attained three victories in this time. They have been inconsistent overall so far this season though after winning their opening two fixtures of the season they went on a run of nine matches before they picked up another victory and that victory sparked their recent run of form which they will be hoping to continue this weekend against the Imps.

In the previous encounter between these sides in April of this year Stockport gave the Imps a real hammering securing a 4-0 victory a result that David Holdsworth will not be wanting this weekend. The recent run the Imps are on has helped the survival cause but we are still perilously close to the dreaded drop zone and a run of victories is needed if we are to pull away convincingly.

The hatters have made a new signing this week, although he was already with the club, a permanent contract until January was handed to Matt Mainwairing and he will be hoping to mark this with an impressive performance this weekend to repay the faith shown to him by manager Jim Gannon. The Hatters are likely to be without Hattersly who went off with a strange injury in the previous match and had to be taken to Hospital for precautionary measures. This will be a blow as he has been very good this season and has scored 5 goals as well.

The Imps will be without Peter Bore, Rob Duffy, Peter Gilbert and Conal Platt for this match. Other injury concerns are strikers Oliver and Robinson but both of these players did play in mid week so there should be no problems if either are called into the side.

This is a tough game with the run of form that Stockport are on and they would for me come in a slight favourites to get the three points. I personally think it will be a close match and it will likely end in a draw.

I agree Dutch1585 - a draw is most likely though County are on the up at the moment and three points for us boys in Blue would be very welcome. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season.

Certainly not going to be an easy game but think we will win.
