Should The Stacey West Close Next Season?

After the improved atmosphere in the Coop Stand on Saturday we'd like to know if you think the Stacey West should stay open or close next season and state your reasons why.

A number of supporters from the Stacey West went in the Coop on Saturday and the atmosphere was as good as it has been for some time in there because the majority of the singers were together for once at a home game.

Feel free to share why you think it should close HERE.

The main 2 reason will most likely be. It will save money on gate men and on security Also it will give a better atmosphere to the co-op stand and the noise level will be greater.

Plus there would hopefully be more people spending money at the bar in the Coop!

makes sense to me while we're in this league.

There's no point having the whole ground open when we're so short of money and attendances are so low. We should close sections of the ground and plough the money saved into the squad. By the way just how old is the photo above?

John O Gaunt - Not sure how old it is if I'm completely honest. I will search for it on the Press Association website and see if there is a date on it!

OK - So based on a quick search the date next to the photo is '05/12/1998'

As far as attendances go there are only approx 4 attendance figures in our league that are better than ours when we play at home. Most attendances barely reached 1,200 or less.

Thanks Jules. I'd love to see the standing areas brought back.

No problem. I think that is the only way the club could encourage a few people to move to the Stacey West - To have some of it as terracing again.

I think the cost of converting it to terracing is the problem, would out way the benefits of a few more fans going in it.

Think I heard a rough figure of about 40k. Not sure where that came from though!

I think it was around that as well, it would take well over a season to make that money back on the gate and that 40k could be spent on a player or two.

Unfortunately we're not in a position where we are making money.

Why would the stacey west end close? Please give full details. Its one of the cheapest areas in the ground, i know for a fact supporters who go in there have done from child to man would walk away, some would think twice about attending as they would feel let down. when the club shuts it down for some games they dont attend matches.

There are no full details to give. I got the idea from the 'atmosphere' thread and wanted to find out what people think. That is all. [Edited by Jules]
