Under 18's in FA Cup action tonight

This Wednesday night sees the Lincoln City under 18's take on their counter parts from Hartlepool in the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup at Sincil Bank. This match kicks off at 7pm and if the previous round is anything to go by the turn out of fans will be fairly high for this level of match.

To get to this stage Lincoln City firstly had to beat Lutterworth Athletic away in the Preliminary Qualifying Round, a match they overcame easily with a 9-0 scoreline. The goals in this game came from Everington, Simmons, Weaver (all two a piece), Rice, Leggett and Taylor.

The first qualifying round saw the Imps once again on their travels this time against Blaby and Whetstone. The goals in this encounter came from Everington, Weaver, Taylor and an impressive hat trick from newly professional striker Jordan Thomas.

The Second Qualifying Round saw the Imps in their first home tie of the competition against Mansfield Town at Sincil bank. This was another easy victory for the young Imps beating the stags by an impressive score of 8-1. The goals in this match came from Bowles, Robinson, Rawdon (2) and another impressive performance saw Thomas get four goals.

The Third Qualifying Round saw the Imps travel to Ilkeston, but once again they came away with a victory, this time a fairly comfortable 4-1. The goals for this match came from Simmons, Taylor and another double from Thomas.
The First Round of the FA Youth Cup saw the Imps take on Notts County at Sincil bank. The Imps came through with a more comfortable then the score line suggests 3-2 win. The goals in this match came from Conner Robinson and two for midfielder Rob Taylor.

Hartlepool have endured a very tough season and sit bottom of the YANE league, just one point behind the Imps who have struggled in the league. In the First Round of the Cup Hartlepool beat Fleetwood Town on penalties after the match ended up 1-1.

This will be a game the Imps will look at as winnable as Hartlepool are below us in the league, even if it is by a narrow margin. If we line up like we did in the previous round with Robinson and Thomas I believe we will have too much in attack for them and we should progress to the Third Round.
