The other day the club announced that the admission fee for those paying on the gate for the Woking game will be £5.
Here's what our posters think about it!
'£5???? Daft Idea if you ask me, how many extra would we need to make same? if we get 2k @£15 we egt £30k to make that much charging £5 it would need 6k through the turnstiles. On a good run like this let the results attract people back IMO'
'I'd say with 1400 in on a Tuesday night, at least half would be ST holders, then there would be kids/pensioners/students so I'd be surprised if the average paid by those without STs would be about £10 (generous estimate IMO) so we'd be taking £8000 total. Slashing entrance to £5 across the board, we'd only need 1600 'paying' fans (so an overall home attendance of around 2300) to take the same amount. Not beyond the realms of possibility and will increase sales of programmes, food & drink (a percentage of which goes to the club now - the MMs deal was changed this season from the %age of fans deal).
I think a decent idea to get a few more in when money is tight coming up to Christmas, against unfashionable opposition. If we do well against Mansfield and win, I could easily see 3000 home fans for this.'
'fair play to the club, dammed if you do, dammed if you dont.... hope it pays off for them'
'I think that it is an incentive to get people to start going to mid week games where the attendance is usually low.'
'Our club can never do anything right in some eyes, get slaughtered for not having the FA Cup game cheap enough, and then when they reduce it for Woking they get slaughtered still, ridiculous! I think its a very good gesture by the club, some people just can't be pleased!'
'Good move, that.
It'd make sense to do something similar for the Gateshead one, too.'
'I also like the scheme reducing games to £5 when things are going well and positive. Too many times have we reduced the admission to £5 when we are in dire straits to try and encourage a result - more often than not we were terrible and folk again were put off.'
'Surely the doubters will come along to this - there's no excuse as it's only a fiver! Come along and see what you think, but I can assure you that this IS a team worth supporting.'
'Tremendous gesture by the club. I was thinklng of going to the game anyway, but will definitely be going now.'
