Here's what some of our members had to say after Saturday's 1-1 draw against Gateshead at Sincil Bank in the Blue Square Premier
'I can't help but feel we used our get out of jail free card. We were simply awful first half and didn't get going and Gateshead could/should have been 2-0 up. We improved a fair bit 2nd half but it still wasn't great.
A lot of people near me questioned the penalty decision, but I thought it was a penalty. Preece was an idiot after that for getting his booking, we had just conceded and he's kicking the ball away!? Our goal was a tidy finish from Conner so that was pleasing. In contrast the football we played wasn't pleasing especially to the eye. I don't mind playing long, we've seen in the past it can work. However, if we are going to play long at least play it to Oliver or give him a chance of getting there! Preece constantly booted it up to their defender with Oliver no where near them! Also we have to give Oliver support for him to knock it down/ onto some one.
The tactics were all off for me. We gave them FAR too much time on the ball. Their centre backs easily moved past the halfway line with no pressure and could pick out a pass, then that player who received the ball was under no pressure what's so ever either. I didn't have a clue what formation we were playing throughout most of it, but that wasn't helped by the injuries which don't look great, Mills especially. Bringing on Taylor at the end was just down right pointless. If he's going to bring him on he should have done it 20 mins before he did. It wasn't very encouraging to see that Gateshead were far more urgent than we were in the last 5/10 minutes. Power had an alright game I thought, especially in the first half. Man of the match for me was Jake Sheridan, though I'd like him to get his head up a bit more and pick out a cross. Miller deserves a mention also, a rock in the defence.
If we play like that (particularly the first half performance) against Grimsby on new years day we are in for an absolute slaughtering.
It struck me that I think I'm the bad omen for the club. Of the 9 or so games I've been to this season Lincoln are yet to win Oh well bring on 2013!'
'It felt like we have gone back to September. I am all for continuity but feel it maybe essential to freshen things up in the window.'
'We give teams far too much time on the ball and drop so deep even their back-four can play football in our half. I thought Preece got a touch but it was difficult to tell.
Sheridan was the only player for us with any consistent quality, although Power showed flashes. Bar the goal, our chances wre pretty much all from set-pieces.
Nice to see Robinson take his goal well.'
'Rerun of Woking, except Gateshead didn't have a cutting edge. We don't press far enough up the field, we just retreat in numbers to our own half, then if we get the ball we hoof it.....to no-one in particular. Robinson took his goal well, and Sheridan gave it a real go, struggling to think of anything else to be positive about.'
'I suspect that after Boxing Day the team got a real bollocking about defence and are now getting back in large numbers. We did from the radio coverage sound better at the back. Penalty didn't help and Preece kicking the ball away was stupid for somebody with his experience.'
'Completely illogical to put JT on the bench and bring him on for the last three minutes, in which is a very important match considering both our league positions. Still can't see why Fofana didn't start. I wonder if both these decisions have a in house reason behind them. I couldn't understand why Oliver was the point man and each time flicked the ball on to their defenders or through to there keeper. If he was laying the ball off or we had a front man running on to his flick ons it would seem more logical to me.
Thought Lincoln played the same up and under rubbish which got us nowhere earlier in this season. The referee seemed determined to stop the game for both sides as much as he possibly could.
On the bright side Robinson took his goal well and as usual although not the most gifted Sheridan gave 100% until the final whistle. Had to laugh in the first half when there no.4 rounded the keeper and tried to walk the ball in only for Boyce to block him on the line. It was Boyce who had got caught out of position in the first place and the player ran into the gap left, but considering the distance he made up , Boyce certainly deserved the applause for his rescue.'
