Quartet get the chop
Lincoln City manager David Holdsworth has been clearing the decks today ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline, with four players leaving the club, including full-back Paul Robson.
Former Newport County defender Robson, who previously had stints in the US with Long Island Rough Riders and Crystal Palace Baltimore, has come under increasing fire from supporters this season for a series of below-par displays. And it seems Holdsworth's patience has finally snapped, with the 29-year-old being shown the door after playing 12 times this season.
Joining Robson out the exit is goalkeeper Jake Turner, who joined the Imps in the summer from Scunthorpe. The youngster failed to appear for the first-team during his time at Sincil Bank and recently returned from a loan spell with Grantham Town.
Teenage defenders Elliott Green and Dan Coupland, both first-year professionals, have also seen their careers with the club come to an end after they were also released by Holdsworth. Green saw service with both Eastwood Town and Sheffield FC on loan earlier this season, while Coupland spent the first few months of the campaign with Goole, along with Karl Cunningham, but they have been deemed surplus to requirements.
That brings the number of players to leave the club since the summer at 27, plus another three whose loan deals have been terminated or expired.
