Boyd snapped up by Spennymoor

Adam Boyd has headed back to his north-east roots following his release by Lincoln and signed for Northern League outfit Spennymoor.

The 30-year-old striker made just one appearance for the Imps, as a substitute in the FA Trophy defeat at Tamworth, after signing a short-term deal in November. Boyd had previously played for Celtic Nation following his release by League One Newcastle and joined City after impressing boss David Holdsworth on trial.

But a lack of match fitness and niggling injuries saw his involvement in the Imps' first-team curtailed - he only appeared once on the match for a Conference game, and that was at Dartford as his former Pools teammate Colin Larkin bagged a hat-trick - and he was shown by the door by Holdsworth last month.

He scored on his debut for Spennymoor against Billingham Synthonia in the Durham Challenge Cup on Monday night.

I think that if he'd signed in the summer, and managed a full pre-season, he could have done a job for us. He was always going to have to play catch-up in terms of fitness, and seemingly couldn't manage it.

Good luck to him.
