Legg eyes City job

Former Wales international midfielder Andy Legg has emerged as a surprise contender for the vacant Lincoln City managerial job.

The 46-year-old had been in charge of Welsh Premier League side - and cash-strapped - Llanelli from April 2009 until he quit the club in November last year, citing a series of broken promises from chairman Nitin Parekh,

In a total of 49 games overseen with the Welsh side, he won 29, enjoying a 64.44 per cent win ratio and also gained experience of European competition, leading the side in the Europa League in every season he was there. He also guided them Welsh Cup success in 2011 and also the runners spot in the League in his first campaign with them, while they lost in the final of Welsh League Cup in 2011.

Prior to Llanelli, Legg's first managerial stint came with Conference North side Hucknall Town when he was appointed boss in January 2007, but last just eight months when he resigned after six straight defeats.

Legg, who is reported to have applied for the job, was an interested spectator at Sincil Bank for today's Blue Square Premier clash with Barrow, which saw Grant Brown in his third stint as the caretaker-manager.
