Players To Keep

Players To Keep

Which players do you think we should we try and keep hold of for next season? Share your views HERE.

Here's what some of our fans have said on the forum.

'Farman (must improve with his consistency)

Possibly Sheridan as a squad player.

That's not a bad spine for a team next season

The rest I'm not bothered about losing.'

'I think Conner Robinson should be here rather than out on loan next season, he's already started to show his potential and is a better option than trying to sign unknowns who are useless (Dali, Hobson).'

'I'm 80% sure Taylor will go, about 65% sure that Power will go too. But I expect Miller, Sheridan, Oliver, Boyce and Farman all to stay.'

'Given Oliver's age he would certainly be a player worth keeping and developing. Agree with pretty much everything everyone has says.

Simpson has gained 17 points from his last 12. DH 6 from this last 10. So I think he deserves some credit with what he has had to work with, and getting enough points to stay up. The big question with every new manager is what can they achieve in the off-season with decent player recruitment. Sutton, Tilson and Holdsworth all failed badly in that department.'

'I would keep/try and keep:-

The last two because of the cover they could give in several positions.

I would also try and sign Jones (like has already been mentioned) on a season long loan.

I don't think we need to be starting next season with 9 new faces in the starting 11 if we can avoid it, 4 or 5 at maximum.'

'I think Gray could be decent for us. I wasn't 100% sure on Nicolau but he hasn't done a lot wrong IMO. Someone who I think would be a great asset here and who could make a big difference to the side is Ellison. Not sure how much he has played this season or if we could even afford him. His attitude though and the the way he approaches a game is what we need IMO and he must be coming to the end of career in league football.'

'It would be good if we go into next season with a core of players from this season so can start to develop a squad with a bit of affinity for the club and actually build a team rather than be saddled with a load of journeymen rubbish. I would try and keep Miller Boyce and Oliver because they are all young and will only get better, I would want to keep Power and Taylor but think they will get better offers elsewhere, I would sign Nat Brown for his experience and Gray and Sheridan as squad players. With big Mo and if I could Jake Jones.'

'Lets be be honest this team was pretty poor evidence shown by where we are in the league. I certainly would be very wary of keeping a lot of them. Personally only the ones that have stood out clearly. Farman (decent keeper for this league), Miller, Power, Oliver, Taylor possibly Fofana as well. I also feel that Nat Brown and Diagne will be here as are clear favourites of Simpson. You may say the likes of Sheridan, Nicolau, Gray, Boyce have done well but if you sign them too you are looking at a very similar team as to or his season, and likely to be in the same mess next season. If we kept the main 5-6 that gives Simpson the chance to bring around 12-14 new players that could change the team. Some of you have said to keep up to 11. For me that is too many from this squad. We have to get away from liking certain players and face up to the fact that they as a team are poor and need changes.'
