Player Profiles: Dan Gray

Player Profiles: Dan Gray

D.O.B: 23/11/1989
Birthplace: Mansfield, England.
Height: 6 ft 0 in
Position: Right Back, Midfielder
Signed: 24/07/2012
Former Clubs: Chesterfield, Alfreton (loan), Macclesfield (loan)

Gray's a former Chesterfield player who is familiar to Gary Simpson after a loan spell with his Macclesfield side during the 2011-2012 season. The versatile central-midfielder-cum-right-back was signed by David Holdsworth following a successful trial, prior to the 2012-2013 season, and his versatility proved useful, with him even filling in at centre-back on occasion. Technically capable and decent in the air, Gray performs best at right-back, where he's allowed the freedom to get forward and deliver accurate crosses. Gray possesses a long throw-in which, despite a relatively poor success rate, often causes panic in opposition defences. Perhaps at an age where he needs to settle into a position and make it his own, the 2013-2014 season is a big one for Gray, who must prove that he's not merely a utility player.
