Player Profiles: Sean Newton

Former Clubs: Chester City, Southport, Droylsden, Barrow, AFC Telford United, Stockport County.

Newton's a new signing for the Imps, joining from newly-relegated Stockport County. A left-back with an impressive eye for goal, Newton's a young player who has vast experience of the Conference that could prove invaluable as the season progresses. The former Chester City trainee has played most of his football with AFC Telford United, but joined Stockport at the beginning of the 2012-2013 season. The left-back was Stockport's vice-captain and scored six goals; an impressive total for a defender in a struggling side. The set-piece expert will hopefully improve Lincoln's poor success rate from dead-ball situations. He loves to get forward, and, by all accounts, excels more in an attacking sense than a defensive one, however, Simpson's tactics will surely allow Newton to find the correct balance in his play.
