Davis delight at Oliver deal
Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis is tipping new signing, former Lincoln City striker Vadaine Oliver to prosper with the Railwaymen following his £45,000 move to the Gresty Road outfit.
The 21-year-old targetman, who scored 14 goals in 41 games for the Imps in his one season with Lincoln, signed on the dotted line at Crewe yesterday following a medical with head physio Rob Sharp and has penned a two-year contract with the League One side.
Now Davis, who has been linked with the vacant Wolves job, is expecting big things of a player who caught his eye last season. He told Crewe's official website: 'Vadaine is a player we have watched for a while and he has had a very good year with Lincoln. He was at Sheffield Wednesday before that but suffered an injury so his career had to take a different path. He is still young and has a lot of potential.
'He scored goals for Lincoln, including a really good hat-trick on his final appearance there against Hyde. He is a really ambitious lad and we are bringing in him to develop him and make him an even better player.
'He has a similar record to that on Mathias (Pogba) when he was at Wrexham and we believe he is another young lad with a lot of potential. If he can make that sort of impact then we would be delighted.'
