Match Preview: The Imps V The Iron

Match Preview: The Imps V The Iron

Tonight The Imps will entertain a youthful Scunthorpe United side in the Lincolnshire County Senior Cup Semi-Final at Sincil Bank Stadium. This match will kick-off at 7.00pm.

Scunthorpe beat Grimsby Town comfortably, 3-0, at Glanford Park in the Quarter-Final to set up tonight's clash.

The two sides last met at Sincil Bank two years ago in the Senior Cup. Alan Knill was the United manager then and the game finished 1-1 and The Imps won on penalties.

The Scunthorpe United line-up will consist mainly of youngsters but players that didn't get much time on the pitch in their game against North Ferriby United might play a part. (James Severn, George Grayson, Callum Howe, Luke Waterfall, Jamie Wootton and Luke Hornsey.)

With tonight's game being a First Team Fixture, we have been told to expect a reasonably strong side to appear for The Imps. Simmo will be using the fixture to give members of his squad valuable game time.

The Imps come into this game after a strong, confident performance against Middlesbrough U21's. A performance where we passed the ball well and created plenty of chances.

Admittedly, we have had a dodgy start to pre-season and haven't yet kept a clean sheet but hopefully we'll be able to get our first tonight.

United's pre-season so far:
Brigg Town 1-7 The Iron
Gainsborough Trinity 1-2 The Iron
The Iron 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Frickley Athletic 1-4 The Iron
The Iron 3-0 Grimsby Town
Winterton Rangers 0-5 The Iron
Bottesford Town 0-6 The Iron
North Ferriby United 1-0 The Iron

Our pre-season so far:
Chesterfield 3-1 The Imps
Lincoln United 1-7 The Imps
Harrogate Town 2-3 The Imps
Grantham Town 2-1 The Imps
The Imps 0-2 Sunderland U21's
The Imps 2-1 Middlesbrough U21's

We will publish both team line-ups on the forum around an hour before kick-off and we'll also have live updates of the game on the forum HERE!
