Football is finally back at the Bank
This Tuesday evening sees The Imps first home game of the 2013/2014 Conference Premier season as they take on Macclesfield town at Sincil Bank. Following a rather dull 0-0 draw away to Woking in the opening match on Saturday The Imps will be determined to get their first three points against the Silkmen.
In the opening match of the season The Imps lined up in what can be described as a defensive formation. All three of the clubs centre backs started the match. In attack Wright was given the lone striker role with Power on the right and amazingly Fofana playing in the 'hole' behind Wright. I am hoping for a more attacking and natural line up for The Imps tin this match. Being at home I hope we put on a good show and show some intent from the off to dominate the match against a Macclesfield side who are weaken from last season due to financial problems.
Tom Miller will miss out this match as he has struggled with injury all the way through pre season and sadly a return date is not on the cards as yet. Yussuf also is likely to miss out, it is not worth bringing players back in a rush so early on in the season. I think Gary Simpson will look to utilise his wealth of attacking talent and is more likely to go for a front three. Rowe and Fairhurst in particular will be hoping to start after missing out on Saturday.
Macclesfield on the other hand started their season off with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Nuneaton Town. The only goal in that game came from Andrew Brown. The striker scoring a header from a set piece mid way through the first half. Not a good start for the Silkmen, especially as Nuneaton are tipped to be one of the strugglers at the bottom end of the league this season.
Despite losing at home on Saturday Macclesfield do posses some very good player, Kissock in particular can control a game on his day from the centre of midfield. It is crucial that we do not allow him any time on the ball, especially in the final third of the pitch.
With this being only the second game of the season it is very difficult to see which way it will go. Both sides failed to impose them selves fully in their opening fixtures and as such both sides will be hoping to score their first goals of the season. I am going to go for a Lincoln win, being at home with the great support for the usual Imps faithful should be enough to ensure that the side gets off to a winning start at Sincil Bank.
