Preview: The U's V The Imps
The Abbey stadium is the venue this Saturday as Lincoln City look to continue their unbeaten start against fellow high flyers Cambridge United. Cambridge will provide a tough test for the Imps with only one point yielded over the two games last season.
Imps manager Gary Simpson has hinted at changes due to the U's physical nature, so two goal hero Waide Fairhurst may make way for the more robust Bohan Dixon. Luke Foster may also be brought in to add a bit more steal within the midfield, as he did at Woking.
Fan Favourite Tom Miller will be vying for a recall at right back, although it would seem unlikely, with Dan Gray part of a back line that has conceded just one in the last three games. Ben Tomlinson who has impressed in the Imps opening games with his tireless work rate, should keep his place up top. Adi Yussuf and Nick Wright remain the Imps only long term absentees.
Richard Money's men have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, and sit top of the pile after three games. They however are struggling defensively after Rory Mcauley was forced off injured last game, and may be forced to field Liam Hughes at the back alongside Ian Miller.
The Imps will need to keep the likes of Nathan Arnold and Ryan Donaldson quiet, if they are to come away with anything from what should be a physical encounter at the Abbey Stadium. The Imps should deal with the physical side of the game comfortably though, if there first three games are anything to go by, with the Imps so far playing some delightful football, yet mixing it up when it matters.
