Lincoln City v Wrexham preview
This bank holiday Monday sees the Imps take on Wrexham at Sincil Bank in a 3pm kick off. This tough match comes just two days after the Imps went to Cambridge and suffered a closely fought 1-0 defeat to the U's.
Following the narrow defeat on Saturday the Imps have 7 points from their opening four matches, conceding only 2 goals in that time. It has been an impressive start to the season for the Imps, but we all know this can change quickly and Imps boss Gary Simpson will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Wrexham. It appeared that the boss had Mondays fixture as the more important match this holiday weekend with several changes made to the Imps line up.
For this game I am hoping to see a return to the starting line up of Danny Rowe who only came on in the final twenty minutes on Saturday. I would hope that Jordan will not be anywhere near the starting line up on Monday, especially down the left flank. Fofana and Dixon will both be hoping to start the match whilst Waide Fairhurst is struggling with injury and may well miss out. A huge blow as in his only appearance for the Imps he scored two goals and won man of the match. Alan Power is suspended following his straight red on Saturday and Wright and Yussuf are also still injured.
Wrexham come to Sincil Bank after an indifferent start to the season. They have managed just five points from their opening four fixtures. On Saturday the Dragons struggled at home to Hyde in a 2-2 draw, a match that surely they would have looked at as a certain victory, but for a late penalty for the visitors. The goals for Wrexham on Saturday came from Thornton and Ntame.
As usual Wrexham will be looking to experienced players such as striker Brett Ormerod and defender Stephen Wright for leadership. They will be without midfielder Jay Harris for this match after he was shown a straight red card on Saturday. Striker Anyinsah could make his first start for the Dragons after he signed on a free transfer following his release form Bristol Rovers in the summer, he only made a late subs appearance at the weekend.
This will be another tough match for the Imps, but presuming Simpson will revert the team back to the one that started the season so impressively I can see us picking up a win here. Wrexham haven`t been great so far this season and we do look a lot better at the back. 2-1 for me and a return to winning ways for the Imps on Monday evening.
