Today The Imps put in a rather average and frustrating performance in a game that finished 1-1 against Worcester City in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
It was a game where at least four Worcester City players should have picked up bookings but didn't due to a poor performance from the referee.
The first two chances of the game fell to Danny Glover. Niall Thompson played the ball into the box from the right and Imps defender Andrew Boyce blocked the header and it went out for a corner. From the corner Glover fired his effort into the side netting.
Our first chance fell to Jon Nolan who fired his shot straight at Jose Veiga and then minutes later from a Worcester corner The Imps countered and Miller found himself in space down the middle but his effort was saved by Veiga.
In the 15th minute Nick Wright headed a cross from Marlon Jackson over and minutes later Farman was called into action when he had to deny Daniel Nti. In response Nick Wright did well down the left hand side, played the ball to Tom Miller but he fired over the bar.
The first booking of the game was given to Jon Nolan who will now get a one-game ban because it's his fifth booking of the campaign. It was a harsh booking for Jon who went down to the ground and handballed.
The next booking was Alan Power. Again, it seemed like a harsh one for a foul on Thompson.
In the 42nd minute The Imps attacked down the right hand side and the ball fell to new loan signing Marlon Jackson whose shot was saved by Veiga and went out for a corner which was cleared away with ease.
The final chance of the first half fell to Thompson whose header went just wide of Paul Farman's goal.
The second half started and neither side had made a change and the first chance of the second half fell to Marlon Jackson which was saved by Veiga. Brown then headed over from a Power corner.
The 52nd minute of the game saw the first substitution. Aaron Williams came on for Richard Taundry and three minutes later they went 1-0 up with Williams scoring the goal. The Imps had a free-kick which was delivered well but not attacked and well cleared away and they countered and scored.
Tom Miller was booked before The Imps got the game back underway.
The next chance fell to Marlon Jackson which was deflected out for a corner but it delivered straight into the hands of Veiga.
In the 65th minute we made our first change. Bohan Dixon came on for Nick Wright. And then moments later Conner Robinson came on for Luke Foster.
Robinson looked lively and up for it. With his first touch he won a corner for The Imps but it was once again easily dealt with as it failed to go beyond the first man.
The Imps won another corner minutes later after some decent work from substitute Dixon. This corner saw an effort from Andrew Boyce cleared off the line.
The Worcester City keeper Veiga spent a few minutes on the ground after a challenge in the six-yard box. He went down claiming a free-kick but in my opinion there was no foul there whatsoever and it was just another attempt to get one of our players booked.
We made our final substitution and that saw Waide Fairhurst come on for Ben Tomlinson up front.
The Imps kept pushing for the equalizer and it just didn't look like the ball was going to hit the back of the net but when we won a corner after Jackson was denied by their keeper Nat Brown headed the ball back into the danger zone and Andrew Boyce was there for fire home to make it 1-1.
Robinson certainly looked a real threat and came close to scoring when he beat three Worcester players with his quick feet before firing a shot just to the right of Veiga who managed to palm away.
The Dragons made their 2nd substitution in the 83rd minute. The injured Thompson was replaced by Reece Hales. Thompson had left the pitch a few minutes earlier because he was unable to continue.
In the 85th minute George Williams was booked for kicking out at Conner Robinson. They then made their final change. Ethan Moore came on for Danny Glover.
The next chance for The Imps fell to Jon Nolan. The ball fell nicely for him to strike a volley but unfortunately it was nearly straight at the goalkeeper so he saved comfortably.
Lincoln came close again when Power delivered a free-kick and Boyce was so close to connecting with it.
The final chance of the game fell to Worcester. They won a corner in the last minute of stoppage time but it went straight out for a goal kick and the referee blew his whistle for full time.
