Views After 4-1 Forest Green Defeat

'Corners were embarrassing

The number that went out for a throw or goal kick the other side of the goal

If Cambridge had played Forest Green this afternoon they wouldn't have been shouting green army at 17.00!'

'This season: 25 points from 19 games; scored 19, conceded 21. Position 15th.

Last season: 26 points from 19 games; scored 30, conceded 29. Position 9th.

So things are actually worse than under Holdsworth, according to the hard facts. We have scored 11 goals fewer, are 1 point down, and 6 places lower. Only positive is that we have conceded 8 goals fewer but we are catching up rapidly.'

'Just got back - only live 37 miles from there!

First game I have seen this season

Shouldn't have been 4:1.

If the game had a decent fair referee and the imps could put the ball into the back of the net it would have been a draw.

How the ball came off the bar and not into the net I never know

As for Forest Green Rovers - poor team really just hoofed the ball everything and were very fortunate to get almost all of the refs decisions. Says it all when their defender is man of the match. They also seemed to be overweight - most of them looked like overpaid non-league journeymen. One thing they have an unnecessary attitude about them - they way they were you would think they played for Real Madrid and not some team hardly anyone has heard of! At the end of the day they are 5th division footballers. Dirty team whereas imps seemed to be penalised for slightly contact

The saddest thing about the performance is the realisation that The Imps are years away from where we should be!

Thought Boyce was at fault for first goal (although Farman didn't do well in not saving it). Boyce improved after that. Second goal the imps player should have killed the player instead of crossing to the near post. Third goal came after a free kick that shouldn't have been. Force well imps had gone to pieces by then.'

'Well just got home. Bet those Imps that had to turn back and miss the game are relieved. We were still on the bus 25 mins into the game and FGRs forwards tore our back four apart. Farmen got his hand to the second but to be fair didn't really stand much chance. Their second goal also had a clear offside pass. Anyhow having gone 2-0 down we finally woke up. The last 20 mins of the first half was us attacking them. Sharpe netted one after a goalmouth scramble and we had our tails up. We thought we'd levelled things just on HT but were apparently off side. Must have been close. Half time came and the Imps fans around me were quietly optimistic of at least a point. Look at all the corners we were winning? Newton and Boyce were doing well, Mo and Power were winning things in midfield. I personally was disappointed by our corners. Almost all in the first half were too long, reaching head height 5 yards past the far post. Still we were far from out of the game.

Half time and I didn't fancy a veggie pasty. Had a cuppa to warm my hands and off on the second half. FGR clearly had a rethink at half time and our H1 dominance had gone. Corner after corner wasted. We tried everything. Short ones to Power to get the length right didn't work either. We just can't score. Throwing everybody forward we were caught on the break. FGR did counter attack well and seemed to get forward and back in numbers and keep their formation.

We conceded two more and basically got thumped. Simmo used all three subs and tried to make a difference but from the terrace it just looked like fresh legs as opposed to change in tactics. If they had created as many opportunities as we did we'd have got beat 10-1. I kid you not. We did ok in the mid field. They put their chances away. We didn't. The 4-1 flatters a bit as we were not outplayed as such. Wasn't fun hearing their fans sing 'you've come a long way for nothing' to the tune of guantanamera. But this game is ultimately about scoring goals so we were beaten fair and square.'
