'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Views After Macclesfield Town Defeat

Vital Lincoln Members Views:

'3 points on Saturday was always going to be more realistic than getting anything out of this one.'

'Not sure i buy this 'no money' argument....weren't Macclesfield skint and still looking for a manager a month before the start of this season? They along with quite a few other teams seem to be able to put a team out that entertains and wins games!!'

'Win some lose some. Hoped for a point disappointed we got panned.'

'What budget to Macclesfield have? It can't be much bigger than ours can it? They really have put together a decent team.... Unlike ours.'

'Was speaking to a guy last night who said up to last year had been a season ticket holder season after season, but feels he can't take the disappointment or frustration anymore, feels he has given plenty to city for no or little in return. Felt sad initially but is now over it. Can't help feeling he will be one of many if things don't change after 5 years of perpetual struggle. Lincoln City has great personal and emotional attachments for me but I fear for the future of professional football in this City. But tonight will change nothing.'

'Not really surprised by this scoreline, oh well. Look to the next match and get the fingers crossed again.'

'Pretty poor night overall with the results of other teams.

Worrying is our lack of goal scoring threat, only goal we could score was a 35 screamer.

Another 3 goals shipped as well. Where do we go?'

'Sad to say it but I don't think I can carry on with this anymore, I have reached the tipping point!!

Not only was it the North Ferriby result but the fact we were in the FA Trophy to begin with!!

Last one out turn the lights off.'

'Macclesfield are a really good side, certainly better than us, and so the result tonight was expected, but how have they managed to build a side better than ours when their budget's supposedly smaller? Is the fact that they're pretty close to Manchester/Liverpool the thing that's making the difference, or is their management and scouting team simply better? People harp on about stability and giving managers a chance to prove themselves over a longer period of time, but how long have Askey and Sodje been in charge there? Rome wasn't built in a day, but Macclesfield have built a hell of a lot more of it than we've managed, in a shorter period of time, with a lower budget, and lower attendances.'

'To be honest it wasn't that bad. For an hour we did ok and deserved to be in front at half time.

We probably needed a 2-goal lead as the conditions were tough in the second half as the rain got worse and the wind strengthened. We didn't do ourselves any favours though in the last 20 minutes by trying to fanny around in midfield a bit too much when a big boot was the order of the day. Nolan ran out of steam and Rowe is simply not quick or strong enough to play in that sort of midfield role on a night like this.

Impressed with Sam-Yorke who worked hard, has pace and looks more committed than Wright will ever be. Foster also had a good game and Farman kept us in it at times.

Macc looked a decent side going forward and their little number 7, although a bit of an arse, was superb and is exactly the type of player we need as we desperately lack width at times.

Big match on Saturday with a win very important.

Stick with Simmo, got to give a manager time to turn round the juggernaut full of rubbish that we have been for 3-4 years.'
