'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Preview V Welling United

Article By Jamie Earls:

After Saturdays last gasp equaliser against Alfreton Town, Lincoln City will be full of confidence this Tuesday as Welling United are the visitors to Sincil Bank. This will be the Imps first opportunity to avenge a 1-0 defeat in November at Park View Road.

Gary Simpson will look to make at least one change to his starting eleven with Bohan Dixon poor last time out, so one of Jake Sheridan or Conner Robinson are likely to be preferred on the flanks with Ben Tomlinson. Dan Gray whose long throw led to the Imps equaliser, should retain his place at right back with Tom Miller still suspended.

After the loss of Delano Sam Yorke, the Imps have moved quickly in the market to sign a new target man with Kris Bright coming in on a deal till the end of the season. The big man will be the likely replacement for Danny Rowe, after the former Barrow man struggled to influence the game last time out at the Impact Arena.

Welling United have adapted to life in the Skrill Premier league well and currently sit 11th, 2 points ahead of the Imps in mid table. Over the last six games Welling have picked up one point less than City so are in good form, but did slip up at the weekend losing 2-0 at Nuneaton.

The Imps will be looking to get back to winning ways at home after drawing last time out against relegation threatened Chester. 3 more points would put City up to the magic 50 points mark and should more or less guarantee their Skrill Premier League status for another season. A win would also propel Lincoln up to the dizzy heights of 11th if results went in their favour somewhere they haven't seen for a long time!
