'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Report: Tamworth 0-0 Lincoln

Lincoln City shared the spoils in what is best described as a dreadful game at The Lamb Ground on Saturday. After last weekends defeat to Gateshead, boss Simpson gave starts to Jon Nolan, Luke Foster and Danny Rowe in what was a bizarre 4-1-2-1-2 formation.

Lincoln shaded what was a dire first half with Jake Sheridan having two good chances, one of which midway through the half he should have scored, when put through by Todd Jordan.

What Conner Robinson must think after being one of only two fit strikers, yet not deemed good enough for the 16, never mind the pitch, is anyone's guess but the second chance especially, I'd fancy him to net nine times out of ten. Jake Sheridan is an excellent winger and will run all day, but in those situations you need a finisher to get you ahead.

Luke Foster then blazed a chance over the bar, and also got in a wrestling match on the floor before half time signalled the end of a boring first half. After that first half you can see why Tamworth will be relegated, as they were as poor as the points total suggests, which makes it even the more odd that Gary Simpson picked a team to combat there physical approach.

The second half began with Tamworth coming at Lincoln a bit more, and they had Nick Townsend to thank for keeping the scores level, making a couple of saves including one excellent double save before the half petered out and nothing happened.

Both teams ended the game without creating anything of note. This could possibly be the worst game I've ever paid to watch and it appears that the Imps intend to end the season with a whimper.

After watching that, the fear for me is fans may be deterred from visiting Sincil Bank next season after yet another display that was terrible to watch. Around 400 away fans made the trip and were in good voice before the game, but the signs of discontent were evident after, with a lot saying they wont be travelling away again.

Surely this brand of football isn't good for business and although I appreciate its a results driven business, the fans deserve more excitement late on in games than Simpson sending on Bohan Dixon, a man that has had enough opportunity's to impress but not taken any, to try and get something.
