At 6:46pm the following Statement was published on the Salisbury City Website:
"A 5 PM deadline set by the Conference tonight to address some financial issues relating to Salisbury City FC has passed without any action being taken against the club for the time being. Salisbury City FC have asked for an extension from the league and presented them with evidence to support their claim.
Furthermore the club today have, upon legal advice, taken steps to remove the current owner, Mr Otail A.S. Touzar after information surfaced questioning the legitimacy of his takeover of the club. Following consultation with legal experts, Mr Touzar has been banned from the club and will be served with legal papers in the forthcoming days to overturn his ownership.
At this point in time no further statement will be made."
You can discuss this on the forum RIGHT HERE.
A view from Scotimp:
"And how long are they being given to sort this out? Disputes over company ownership can take years to resolve; this is potentially a very complex problem. The fact that Mr Touzar has not produced any money so far may even be irrelevant to his ownership of the club; the law surrounding consideration is a minefield.
So, what about the effect on Dartford? On Tonbridge Angels? What are they supposed to do? The majority of clubs return to training in 3 weeks time, yet these two clubs (and others in the pyramid below them) have no idea which league they will be playing in or how much they actually have in their playing budgets.
Therefore those clubs still do not know which players they can afford to retain and which they can afford to sign. In turn, those players affected do not know whether they have a club to play for next season or whether they need to find one quickly; those players do not know whether they have an income for the next 10 months. It is totally unacceptable for these problems to be caused by one so-called football club that refuses to play by the rules.
This is precisely why rules surrounding financial resources exist: to ensure fair-play and an element of certainty for all other members with an interest in that entity.
I feel sorry for Mark Winter, who has re-mortgaged his house to find the £75,000 he needed, but he should have done his homework on his new business partner. Salisbury have had their chance and should go, now.
You have to ask whether the Football Conference has acted in the best interests of the majority of its members."
