The Vital Lincoln City Members voted for who they believe was The Imps Man of The Match in our Conference game away at Altrincham on Tuesday night.

Here's how the poll finished:

Townsend: 0%
Newton: 63.64%
Brown: 0%
Power: 0%
Diagne: 0%
Caprice: 0%
Bencherif: 0%
Nolan: 36.36%
Tomlinson: 0%
Burrow: 0%
Marshall: 0%
Mendy: 0%
Robinson: 0%

And to the comments:

redstriper: "Newton's delivery on the run was back to its best and besides one truly horrendous free kick he was our most potent weapon. Conner looked bright when he came on and burrow was isolated but did well with little he got."

Chesterimp: "Disagree with redstriper, but same outcome - thought it was good team performance, most contributed and few really stood out but Newton set up both goals and Burrow's header off the post and gets the vote. Free kick still in orbit though :-)"

RussC: "I haven't been his number one fan in the past, but Nolan was my man of the match. Newton would have been a very close second. An excellent team performance, though on this evidence, Altrincham are likely to be in the lower reaches of the division."

Luke Imp: "Nolan's not played any differently so far this season than he did last season in my opinion.

The change in him came around October time, admittedly with the rest of the team, but he wasn't pulling up any trees until Feb/March time again.

He's fine in these conditions with good pitches but we'll see how he's improved in 3 months time away at a pitch like Braintree."

cheshireimp: "You can only beat what's in front of you so to that end it was a good result. 3 points was what was on offer, and 3 points were obtained.

As for the over all performance I agree with redstriper. Some decent periods, and some not so good. Still only the 2nd game, and as such to early to formulate any direction the season will take. Time will tell.

No one really stood out, but if I had to choose, maybe Nolan."

marcjones: "Have to go with Nolan just, always wants the ball, helps the team gain and retain possession.

If he can stay consistent this season it will be a big bonus."
