Danny, with an obvious smile and a "no way" look on his face, that he did not go in the Cryotherapy Chamber. Players had some fun after training when a company let them use it for the day. The device aids recovery and is what most Premiership teams would have. It takes temperatures down to -146 and had them shivering. The Police (not the band) were using the changing rooms so there were a lot of half-naked players around. Paul Farman was a sight to behold: looked like he'd fallen out of Geordie Shore. It will be interesting to hear the players feedback, we are just being open minded, looking at new things however wacky they are.

Played well in the second half v Notts County, and started well making 110 passes in the first twenty minutes, which is good for us. A decent win and a really great goal from Josh Ginnelly to finish it. He was not pleased with the last 15 minutes of the first half but was pleased with the response after the break. We have been a little bit short of the ultimate outcome, which for us at the moment has been scoring goals. When short in that area the key is to focus on the processes and try to keep hitting the numbers in terms of turnovers, crosses into the box, the amount of set pieces we win. "If we keep getting the processes right and hit the numbers in terms of our processes then the goals will come."

It was acknowledged that the more organised League 2 defences had meant that it was harder to score from set pieces this season. They have been working on similar set pieces but with little changes and permutations. They are quite pleased and thought they had created more chances which had resulted in clearances off the line and hitting the post and bar.

Looking forward to facing Crewe on Saturday, a good team, and a club with a great tradition for playing open football. They had a good result against Rotherham in the week, they have technical players with a real threat from their attacking play.

There is no need to ask about Harry Anderson now; he may or may not play (laughs all round). It sounded as if only Sam was a doubt. Rheady trained in the week, we have to look after him, he has a unique body type and we don't want to break the "biggun". Being out of the FA Cup means we have a free Saturday and a two-week break. The players will probably be given a few days off to recuperate as it is such a small squad.

Neal Eardley has extended his contract and is up for the payer of the month. He has been a great addition to the squad and has got better and better. He is calm, composed and technical, and is a superb role model for the younger players.

It is clear that at this higher-level, players make less and less individual errors. As a consequence, it is harder to score goals. Keepers are better and command their areas as well as being good shot stoppers. Most teams have experienced centre half's who have probably played at a higher level earlier in their careers. Definitely an improvement in the organisation.

Two good tests in our last couple of games. Expect Crewe to come at us and try to dominate possession and move the ball quickly. We made 29 crosses on Tuesday night, but it is the quality that is important, and we need numbers forward. 84% of goals are scored in a twelve-yard box with a one or two touch finish. All teams are trying to get the ball into that area.

Crewe have brought a lot of players through their academy and that is something Lincoln would like to emulate. We are in a better position now than last year when we did not have the central funding. We lost some of our best younger players to League teams. Now we have some good young players: Ellis Chapman came on the other night and showed all of his capabilities and it speaks volumes that we are able to trust a 16-year-old in that position. For sustained success we know we will have to develop our own and a new training ground will help us in that regard. Next step will be the League, but they are picked on merit, but his talent needs to be nurtured at the moment within a safe environment. Cameron Stewart played and is improving but we need to get his fitness up to that of his technical ability. The Checkatrade Trophy gave DC a reminder of the capabilities of some of the more peripheral players and certainly provided food for thought for the game v Crewe.
