Lincoln City OS:

"Joel Byrom thought he had netted the winner with his goal early in the second half but the resiliance of the City side shone through and the late strike from Palmer brought joyous scenes.

The atmosphere at kick off was white hot, the hosts welcoming their new manager, while the Imps were backed by the now customary noisy travelling support as some 1,700 supporters made their way over from Lincoln in a sell out away end behind Ryan Allsop's goal in the first half.

City looked good in possession and typically combative without the ball in midfield. Chances weren't forthcoming in front of goal early on but all the positive play was coming from City as the movement in midfield kept them on the front foot. A dangerous centre from Sam Habergham caused panic in the Mansfield area when Matt Rhead leapt with Conrad Logan, the ball was only half cleared before Lee Frecklington turned the ball back to Rhead who diverted the ball goalwards but Mal Benning managed to hook the ball clear."

Mansfield Town OS:

"The first half of David Flitcroft's debut game ended goalless with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite plenty of positive, attacking play. Lincoln probably shaded the opening exchanges with Matt Rhead, playing against his former club, seeing a shot cleared off the line by Stags' left-back Mal Benning. At the other end, striker Danny Rose and midfield maestro Alex MacDonald both tried their luck for Mansfield but found their range wanting.

It didn't take long for the second half to produce the opening goal as in the 49th minute, the Stags went ahead. Midfielder Joel Byrom, on as a half-time substitute, headed home his first goal for Mansfield after nipping in to get on the end of a terrific cross from right-back Hayden White. That looked like it would be the winner but in the last minute of normal time, ex-Stag Ollie Palmer forced a volleyed effort past Conrad Logan to level proceedings. That wasn't the last of the drama, however, as both Lincoln's Luke Waterfall and Mansfield's Rhys Bennett were shown red cards in the last few minutes as both sides ended with ten men."

Match Reports - What The Newspapers Say

Lincolnshire Live:

"Ollie Palmer came off the bench to grab a last gasp equaliser as the Imps earned a deserved point at the One Call Stadium.

Palmer was on hand to steer home a fine finish with 90 minutes on the clock, which cancelled out fellow substitute Joel Byrom's opener.

Luke Waterfall and the Stags' Rhys Bennett, meanwhile, both received red cards in injury time in separate incidents.

A dour opening came to life in the 10th minute, which saw the game's first caution. Mansfield's Adam King received a yellow card following a poor challenge on Alex Woodyard just inside the centre circle."

Nottingham Post:

"Ollie Palmer's 90th minute goal denied his former club the chance to go third in League Two as Mansfield Town drew 1-1 with Lincoln City on Tuesday night.

The Stags looked set to win David Flitcroft's first game in charge thanks to Joel Byrom's second half strike at the One Call Stadium.

They were poised to leapfrog Wycombe and Notts County, but then substitute Palmer earned Lincoln a late point.

The game ended in controversy when Imps defender Luke Waterfall was sent off soon after the goal, seemingly for throwing a bottle into the crowd after it was hurled on to the pitch."
