What a total embarrassment Scott Laird is.....it seems that teams should be nice to them and let them play to their strengths. 2 times last season - they bottled it at home when we showed real guts and desire then at SB we gave them a goal lead then proceeded to demolish them and hand out a real spanking. Must be something they put in the tofu down there. Laughing stock.

When you start to blame everything else other than yourselves you are in sticky ground.

I also hate it when those tika taka sides come to Sincil Bank rather than coming for a good fiesty scrap. How dare they.

Interview with their player is amazing as well. Our smallest player is 6 foot apparently, we weren't 'very nice' and Rhead is '30 stone'. But he 'doesn't want to sound bitter'. Just totally priceless.

Was that a comedey spot after the game?

No doubt a massive travelling support going from Village Green to Port Vale on Saturday.

Has all the hallmarks of a relegation battle already.

Laird interview is brilliant. Poor little lamb

Not a Cooper fan but think he comes across quite fair given how much of a cock head the interviewer is. Just sounds like a manager trying to keep his teams confidence up.

A few highlights including the goal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow4FRFHv6kk

So how many long balls of VGR on the highlights! We played some really good stuff on the deck first half.

Clearly no love lost between the sides, but I have to say I am getting rather tired of listening to losing teams whinging like babies about how we play. If, as many of them seem to suggest, we are one dimensional how is it they can't beat us?
Bottom line is that while the sore losers in this league keep making their excuses we will carry on picking up the points...

I am absolutely loving it! Remember when teams used to love playing against lovely nice roll over Lincoln and even enjoyed their day out at Sincil Bank. I love that everyone hates even the thought of lining up against us it does 30% of the job towards a win before a ball has even been kicked...long may it continue!

Dare I say it, it harks back to the John Beck days. If teams are moaning about the direct style, god only knows what they would have thought of the Beckensian era.

I am not sure what match FGR watched last night.

They were absolutely no threat at all - over hit balls, no closing down, lost the second ball, couldn't string a pass together.

In the end we played it in the floor they hoofed it.

This was my first match this season - thought Bostwick and Eardley look like excellent acquisitions. They are both claim influences.

Palmer had a lot of energy and is mobile but needs someone with he final finish to play with.

Sounds like we played the conditions much better - kept it down first half into the wind, using Rheady for the longer game with wind assistance.

FGR are a perfect fit for L2 in one respect only - whingeing after a defeat seems to be the norm, we know from last season how good David Brent and his boys are at that. Enjoy your season before going back down, lads.

Seeing as Thommo criticises our play just as much as the opposition when warranted the FGR fans should take a listen to his commentary of the game. He pretty much said they just played long ball hoof up to the big man. When they took the big man off near the end he said he couldn;t understand taking off the big man when they only had one string to their bow. He then laughed as they hoofed it up to the smaller substitute for the dying minutes.

Not just this league. Opposition managers from upper echelons are the same (Hughton.) They come in with no research and a preconceived view of how we play, then ignore what they see in the 90 minutes and win or lose base their whole media interview around moaning about what they had decided pre-match.

We could take a team apart with Barcelona-esque tiki taka, score 5 superb team goals totalling 150 passes all on the ground with us running rings around them to the point we didn't even need to tackle them to get the ball and the post match interview would see the opposition manager state that they couldn't deal with our physicality and how we rely on set pieces.

The reality is that you can;t count a penalty as a set piece goal. And thus we have scored one set piece goal this season...............and sit 5th in the table. Hurrah for our long ball tactics, bullying and reliance on set pieces. Long may it continue. Bring on Mansfield's tiki taka team so we can NOT bully them and NOT rely on set pieces too. Will be hilarious to hear Steve Evans complaining about our horrible team after a game where they end up hoofing the ball because they can;t get hold of the ball on the ground in midfield.

Ironic that the player who moans about physicality, style of play, height of players etc is Scott Laird - a man who spent most of his time under the tutelage of Graham Westley.

Of course, he was wrong on many counts, was Laird. 6(?) of the 14 who played last night were under 6'.

Teams struggle against our commitment and will to win. The team spirit is obviously the same as last year with the new arrivals buying into it. I may be looking at it with Lincoln City glasses on but i don't see that we are any more direct than other teams. i have been watching lower league football for over thirty years and i can't remember too many really good footballing sides at this level playing tikka takka but I have seen lots of teams being more direct and using gamesmanship far more than we do.

I think a lot of whats happening is in its own way gamesmanship, teams are worried about us and all this moaning is giving us a reputation that referees are going to listen too, we have a small squad and disciplinary problems are something we don't need.

I notice on their forum thread that hidden within all the moaning about our physicality, bullying and long ball tactics there are nuggets of reality that are ignored with their obsession about their pre-conceived ideas.

One comment about us dominating midfield (long ball??) and about the Cowley's antics (have the Cowley's been sent to the stands since they came?)

There are some grounded fans on there that can see the wood for the trees but a lot of them have decided what they would moan about pre-game and watching the game has not changed them an iota from what they had already decided they would see pre game.

The reality is more like this comment:

I find it amusing so many people condemn the Cowleys when they probably watched the last half hour at Wembley against Tranmere. We demonstrated all the gamesmanship that Lincoln do.

Rather than hammering the Cowleys perhaps we should all be looking at how they built for this season, set their teams up and get them to play.

They also seem not to realise that they finished third last season paying twice as much or more in wages to players than we do.

There are also comments that moan that the club seems more bothered about the vegan aspect and awards for this and that than the actual football.

Contrast this to us. Yes we were media darlings last season. Yes we enjoyed all the plaudits of our fanbase, setup and beautiful city BUT if we had lived off those plaudits while the on field stuff wasn't working as well as it could our club would have ignored all that off field stuff and focused on the playing side to improve it.

One balanced poster said MOTM should have been given to the travelling away fans. They do seem to have more deluded posters than most teams however I assume that most of their balanced fans aren't posters on that forum. Every club has their morons, that forum just seems to have more than the average deluded element posting on it.

Seems to me it is easier to moan and hope the fans and press buy into the moans, rather than do some background work and learn how to play against Lincoln. I don't believe DC and NC have changed their methods since they were at Braintree yet they were classed as plucky, so how come we are a team of cheating thugs?

I think the main reason why we are seeing a lot more moans and groans about us is simply this, the old LCFC would more often than not give up a very easy 3pts. This new LCFC is a far different animal and teams and supporters know it's not an easy game for them anymore. Long gone are the days when we would just turn up, roll over and let teams walk all over us, long may it's continue.

I thought the exact same thing when we went to ten men on Saturday. Over the years I have lost count of the number of times we have gone down to ten men and given up and loosing by 4 or 5, not on Saturday, this is a very different Lincoln City.
