I don't really rate either of them. As I don't live local I cant listen to Hortin and Thommo anymore. My Criticism of Hortin is he has zero knowledge of the opposition before he starts. So when the opposition have the ball he's going "and the ball is cleared by the Exeter defender". "Strong tackle by the Luton defender, and Luton come away with the ball" It wouldn't hurt him to take his time a little bit and at least have a bit of an idea of what some of them look like. They've all got numbers on their backs which makes it easier for a commentator. Secondly, the amount of times there's a goal and he's assuming we've seen it. "oh dear, what was that Thommo?" or "Terrible play by the defence". Like we're supposed to know what the hell that means. Which defence was terrible and exactly how terrible was it? :wtf:

I listened to the Burnley game on 5 Live sport, as I wanted to hear proper commentary and it was fantastic. For me they let the best commentator go. Chris Parkin.

I seldom hear who is kicking left to right or right to left. Who is playing in what colour kit. These are essential for anyone to imagine what it is like to be there...or for anyone with a visual impairment.

The best BBC commentator for our level of footballer, is the old boy who retired last year, from covering Notts County games. Ours are too chummy and dare I say it....too Smashie and Nicey.

If you're criticising Hortin for not knowing opposition players then you should try listening to Gloucestershire. They only know Raggett and they didn't work him out for the first ten minutes until they got frustrated with him constantly going off.

I think Hortin's pretty good and I prefer him to Parky.

Key and Ashton a decent, massively local fans but not great commentators. The live feed for exiles needs to be handed back to Horton and Tommo. Soon please.

Given the poll outcome so far would be great if someone from the club could comment.

The iFollow fan boys come across as the know it all anorak we all knew at school who tried to create an exclusive club at school playground , but failed because he was was a nerd. It is about time we voted to who we want pay £45 of our hard earned cash to hear. Long, Ashton and Morely the World is changing hands, move over.

That would get my vote.

Thommo "if you finish above Barrow you'll get promoted" trots out tired platitudes like a local version of Mark Lawrenson. That's not meant to be a compliment.

While Hortin's enthusiasm has some appeal his ability as a commentator is limited. I have sat and listened for long periods joining a game part way through and waited and waited and waited for the score to be mentioned. And he is too wrapped up in this notion that he and Thommo are some kind of celebrity duo.

I agree about Hortin – he is a damn sight better than the completely unlistenable duo of Morley/Ashton, but still not a great commentator. If anything, Rob Makepeace makes a better fist of it and unlike Hortin, is not always fawning over Thommo. Bring back Rob Underwood, eh BJM?

On Ashton, I completely understand there are some people who have done a lot of good work for the club over many years and they should be applauded for that, but that does not mean they should then be given these perks like summarising on CIty games and writing in the match programme, especially when there will be a damn sight load more people associated with the club, ie. fans, who are much more suited to these roles. It has become a bit of an 'old boys club' at LCFC for things like this, which hopefully Liam Scully will address once he gets his feet firmly under the table. Out with the old (and unsuitable) and all that…

No. No. No.

If you could have another ex-player/manager that could come in as co-commentator on I-player, to replace Ashton, for instance. (Instead of doing a deal to use the Radio Lincs duo), who would you choose. And don't say Carlisle legend Dean Walling

Good point, if it's going to be on TV it's another factor to consider. It would be less likely any ugly buggers would get the gig.
