Yes it is. What a thoroughly decent man and outstanding football manager.
I'm enjoying reading his book "In his own words" which was a Christmas Present from Mrs Croozey. Had to wait until last weekend to receive it as she couldn't get hold of a copy at Waterstones before Christmas and had to order it. Would definitely recommend it.

Like many I don’t think we treasured him at the time. Hindsight is as they say 20-20 vision.

Been thinking of getting 'In his own words' .
Is there plenty of Imps content in the book or is it all about Watford?

Totally disagree - I was at Sincil Bank for the Lincs Cup Final v Grimsby the night after Southport, he did his usual broadcast over the PA, the pain was palpable but so was the determination. Confirmed what we already knew, he was a cut above. That night we knew the foundations of something special was there. 75-76 was extraordinary (with only 1 addition to the squad), the season after good, hindsight only in understanding his move to Watford which to me made little sense at the time but later made plenty.

Great man, big loss.

I disagree too - watched him as a player for the Imps and as a manager until Elton poached him to Watford, which was totally unexpected (by me and many others) and a real shock at the time. Fully marvelled in the side he put together and the achievements during his time at the Bank. Treasured every minute of it, similar to the way I'm treasuring every minute of the current journey (albeit from afar). Great man and will always remember him as one of the true legends of the club. RIP.

Top Bloke...and I will never forgive the way the print media treated him when he was England boss.

He suffered from a huge number of player injuries and had to play Carlton "he's got a good engine" Palmer.

We were blessed to have such a great chap at this club of ours.

Disagree here as well, so obviously a genuine man passionate about the game and it's ability to ignite a community even back in his first job at Lincoln.

I played in the sponsor's game in the summer after administration in 2005 at Sincil Bank and the first thing I did was stand on the same spot I'd watched Peter Grotier stand and look at where I would have been stood for all those games when he was manager, I was 11 years old and he gave me a team to cheer for and heroes to look up to...
