Don’t think it should be ignored that we spanked them bearing in mind theirrecord at the MCG.

Jason Roy hit the highest one-day international score by an England player with a sublime 180 to help the tourists beat Australia by five wickets in the first ODI at the MCG.

What we’ve lost in tests we’ve shown we’ve adapted to the shorter format.

England held their nerve to take a 2-0 lead in the one-day international series with a four-wicket victory over Australia at Brisbane.

Set 271 to win after Aaron Finch hit 106, the tourists eased to 119-1 only to be checked by the wickets of Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan.

Joe Root and Jos Buttler rebuilt before Mitchell Starc removed the wicketkeeper and Moeen Ali in quick succession.

But Root and Chris Woakes calmly guided England home with 34 balls to spare.

Perhaps but i’m interested to see if the English game starts to drift towards limited overs.

Embarrassing top order batting from England with Roy, Hales, Root and Butler all scoring a Duck. We were an incredibly poor 8-5 at one stage.

Well that was an exciting final ODI. England bat first and put 259 runs on the board for their 19 wickets. Then bowl Australia out for 247.
