Random quote: Harry is fiddling under the bonnet of his car. A tramp walks by, stops and looks at him. "Piston broke" explains Harry. "Ah yes" says the tramp "so am I"

As we have no-one at the moment, Marriott could easily be on the bench for a possible 10-20 minute stint. Worth noting that this is pretty much all Palmer is used for. I guess we will never know, but in tight situations in the box... intelligence, quick thinking and good close control can make up for tearing around like a headless chicken/bull-in-china-shop, stumbling over the ball, pushing defenders needlessly, etc etc.

I would add his goals at Macclesfield, and home to Gateshead to the list of quality finishes.

Sorry to see you go Nathan, but fully understand why, from the lack of first team football. Total respect for the way you handled your depression/anxiety issues and got so many people together with similar problems who were also able to talk about their problems, often with friends who had no idea their friends were also suffering. Good luck mate - hope you enjoy your new adventure. Club legend and always welcome back at the Bank.

Marriott was great for us last year but I’ve been surprised by the gulf in class between the divisions. I will always appreciate what last years squad did for us but I don’t honestly think any that have left would improve the team as it stands.

I agree with you Maine Road. I was sorry to see Marriott leave but as Luke rightly says he was at his best in 20 minute bursts. Tranmere at home being a great example. I think going to Royston showed a lack of ambition. But we continue to strengthen and we’ve said goodbye to a few fans’ favourites (eg Power) but I honestly couldn’t see them featuring apart from odd run outs from the bench.

Also, sad to see Nathan go and he’s left great memories behind. Just a tad surprised where he’s gone, I guess a few drives across the M62 aren’t the end of the world but thought he’d stay more local. Smashing bloke and all the best to him.

Sad to see Nathan depart what a significant contribution he made to the resurgence of the club. A thoroughly nice chap as well, good luck for the future Nathan and thank for the memories.
