Where do you see his role now? 4th choice winger? I’ve seen some cods convinced he’ll be returning soon but also some good arguments against the move such as his alleged dislike for Fenty. He has posted a noticeable amount of pictures from his Grimsby days on social media recently though...

Why on earth would a player choose to play for Russell Slade instead of Danny Cowley? Why would he prefer to play in front of 3,000 instead of 10,000? Why would he prefer a relegation scrap to a promotion challenge? Why swap a club on an upwards trajectory for one heading downwards? One with great momentum for one with none? One which plays in a nice modern stadium for one which does not? One with a great relationship with its supporters for one that is at loggerheads? One with a great board of directors for one without? Only if you had little choice.

He is out of contract in the summer though - what future does he have here, particularly if we are in League One next season? I'm not sure - he hasn't set League Two alight so far, and surely League One would be beyond him.

I would not be surprised to see him move on, but Grimsby?

Has to be frustrating for him, assisted two teams in getting promoted out of the conference earning plaudits and praise on both occasions and he can't / couldn't get a regular game in either team once promoted

All good points and I'd agree that I personally wouldn't make the move. However, he does seem to have fond memories of the place and if he isn't playing then that's got to be a killer at this point in his career.

Agreed, regular starts can be a big incentive for players.

Three teams - Cambridge (2014), Grimsby (2016), Lincoln (2017).

Doubt he'd go to Grimsby. However stranger things have happened. If he's happy there, gets a decent wage and regular games then at 30 years old that could be attractive.

Danny always talks about his football intelligence, perhaps something coaching related would tempt him to move/stay.

I seem to remember reading somewhere Arnold is very much into his research, scouting teams etc so I imagining he is quite valuable to the team and unit as a whole. Coaching would probably appeal, but even as 4th choice winger, there is a place for him. 2 players for every position, and he is probably the most ‘defensive’ winger we have, an excellent option from the bench.

Didn't he do some of his coaching badges last summer?

After the game last Saturday Nathan was left on his own applauding the Co op stand, thought it was a bit odd at the time and that it might have been his goodbye, just hope I have put 2 and 2 together and got lots more. I am sure he can play a part and Danny likes him as well. UTI.

I don't think we want to be losing Nathan yet.

Youth Player

I can see him leaving, to be replaced potentially by someone like Nathan Thomas from Sheffield United.

Hartlepool player of the year last season (we know someone who was in Hartlepool over the summer...)

Was it we were in for him in the summer, but the lure of a Championship club was too great?

Chris Wilder has made Thomas, and striker Caolan Lavery available for loan. I think either of these would be a great fit at the Bank, but would assume Thomas is a more realistic target.

Discussions with the Blades obviously went well over the Wilson deal. They also play a high press game similar to our own.

If another winger came in, then I guess that could free up Jordan Williams to play up front?

Arnold is probably worth his weight in gold for his experience, in the changing room and doing bit and pieces in terms of analysis and scouting.

He's always come across to me as one of DC's trusted lieutenants on and off the pitch.

DC and NC seem to trust him absolutely to come on and implement a game plan to close out a game...

Arnold has not had the best season so far but I'm sure he has a big part to play still. He has the ability to change a game.
