I went to the old Wembley when my U12 football manager treated us to the England vs Scotland schoolboys game. A player called Andy Cole of Arsenal (later to make his name at Newcastle and Man Utd playing in a winning Champion's league team no less) played in that schoolboys game and everyone kept pointing at me and saying he's here, he's there.

And everytime I speak to strangers on the phone or give my name over I get "what the footballer, he, he?"

Not telling you what my name is........oops. Different ciolour skin but it didn't doesn;t stop the tired old joke he, he.

@15000 first time and @ 13000 second time !

It's funny how these figures get inflated over time isn't it and becomes an urban myth. We actually took 13,500 to the first final and Bournemouth took 18,500 in an attendance of 32,148 for the 2003 play off final.

We took 11,500 and Southend took 8,000 (because they had played at Cardiff a month earlier in the EFL Trophy final) in an attendance of 19,653 for the 2005 final.

So it's 13,500 and 11,500.

Really? I would have put my mortgage on us having taken 15000 1st time round and have recollections of how poor Southends turn out was, with 4 to 4500 sticking in my mind for the second one.

I actually used to play in the same footy team as a lad who worked in the ticket office at the time and I remember him clearly saying how many we had sold. Also had a conversation with Chris Ashton a while ago and he was quoting these figures and how the amount we took has got inflated over time.

Do Covent Garden pubs allow kids in? Fancy a beer or 2 before the game.

The kids do, or you?

I have to defend my pint while they're around or they'll "just a sip" too many times. They drink Coke.

Capacity 100,000 so both teams shouldn't have any problems getting tickets. I think we could take 30,000, but we'll all want good seats..?

what would Yeovil and Shrerwsbury take? Shewsbury seem to get surprisingly decent league crowds these days.

Is there a bad one? Only been to new Wembley once (Womens Olympic final) and was in the top level, view from there was good although it felt a long way from the pitch. What's the bottom level like (presume the cheapest seats), hopefully better than the Emirates which almost felt like I was below the pitch level?

Me included - sorting flights now so I'd better get a ticket!!!

Now that is dedication. Possibly the longest journey unless someone's coming from Dunedin... Someone should do a story on you..

Already been done mate. Jordanimp (also from Perth) came over for the Macclesfield game (I think). Left without a ticket but put an appeal for a ticket on the forum. Someone bagged him one when he was in the airand he found out when he landed. The Echo did a piece on him and I think he was interviewed as well? There's also Brisimp over in Brisbane. Not sure if either of them are planning to get over. Also not sure if we have anyone in NZ - guess we'll find out soon enough.

Jordanimp has said he is coming over on another thread. I asked him if he was getting a ticket first this time before he comes over. Remember him saying he didn't know he had a ticket until he got off the train in Lincoln

Fortunately for me, I was able to get fantastic tickets for the FA cup final a couple of years ago to make me a great dad in the eyes of my Man Utd supporting son - helps to have the Vice President of FIFA as a client. Should be easy to get good tickets for this one...

...sits back to await the torrent of abuse for mentioning MUFC win the cup

I’m a season ticket holder now so should be fine to get a ticket for myself, Dad and brother who lives in London. Had to do some serious negotiation with the missus but I’m booked in for another long haul trip for a weekend to see the Imps! Can’t wait!!
The help I got last time was brilliant and the whole experience fantastic, I can’t wait to do it all again

I think estimates of 30,000 imps are a bit optimistic - although I would be glad to be proven wrong.

I'm guesstimating 20-23k imps.
Shrewsbury are a similar sized club/city to us and they are flying as well, maybe they would take about 20k.

Yeovil ,however ,is not as big a town as people think. I think there population is about 50k and their crowds have been steadily dwindling these last few years. So I would guess Yeovil would not take more than 10k.

I'd rather we took on Shrewsbury for the better atmosphere. But ,most important thing - we are there!

For what it's worth, the book about the 2002/03 season, 'One Hell of a Season' by Grahame Lloyd quotes a figure of 15,000 for the Bournemouth match.

I thought it was also 15k against Bournemouth, 12-13 against Southend with only 4000 Shrimpers.

For what it's worth and people can chose to believe what figure they want to believe I have a big panoramic framed photograph taken that day produced by the club that shows the stadium and the crowd and it visually backs up the 5k difference in fans. We didn't quite fill the end that we were in and Bournemouth came slightly over the halfway line to make up for the fact that we had the two tier end. They even had fans in the top tier of the stadium and we did not. You can clearly see on the photo they had several thousand more fans than us! If we took 15 k then they only took 17k because the attendance was 32k. The photo clearly shows a bigger disparity than 2000 in support that day.
