When I turned the radio off last night I was a bit disappointed with a draw, which I guess shows how far we have come recently, and nothing wrong with wanting to win every match. However, on reflection this morning it was probably a good point gained and I think our realistic goal is to sneak into the play-offs which would be a decent achievement in our first year back in the league.

The problem is, those damned Cowley's give us such high levels of expectation...

Alsopp is an odd one, I said at half-time he hasn't had any sort of save to make. not even a catch as I remember. Thought don't know how to judge him, from 1 1/2 games of inaction. But 2nd half made good save and had a few to catch. Very cool with his feet, not what I was used to so gave me kittens a few times, but seems a very calm kind of player.
Wharton didn't look out of place, although when behind the goal can't judge so well what happens the other end.
Pett didn't try and take anyone on hardly, mostly tried to pass to Sam or lost it. Once in the 2nd half he beat a player and then was fouled, but you have to give him a chance to settle in.
Draw was a fair result, we had a few moments where the ball could have dropped better, and Bossies shot that was blocked was probably the one nearest to going in. Thinking how Newport were when we played them, we avoided the same pitfall, and were still going at the end. There subs caused plenty of problems, not sure if they were waiting for us to tire or can't do 90 minutes but they looked there best players.
Damn cold & why only two turnstyles for 1000+ in the stand, beggars belief. Traffic getting out of the street we parked in made Lincoln look like a picnic.

The highlights are up on OS. It might be the angle of the camera, but I fail to see why Harry's goal was ruled offside. He looked well behind the last Cambridge man.

We also appear to have been denied a clear penalty in the first half - Harry was tripped from the back by one man and then smashed to the ground by a second player's late sliding tackle.

Couldn't see any of this at the match given I was sat three miles away in the stand.

Agreed, but I bet if you ask the other 23 club's they'll have a very similar story to tell.

Yes I know....but that's the fine margin of this wonderful game called football. Some you win...some you don't

I think if you draw your away games that's top 3 form as long as you win your home matches. 2 points per match average is a promotion target.

Obviously we're a bit behind but that doesn't make an away draw when looked at in isolation any way bad.

And that is the issue. We need to win more of our home games. We've drawn too many this season, and at some points this season our away form has been better.

Exactly - the problem was last Saturday not last night. You would add everything wasn't stacked in our favour last Saturday after 15 mins or so and everything was stacked against us last night too.

Yep a quick recap of our home form

Draws
Morecambe (We bloody murdered them)
Luton (A good point)
Crawley (Pass the sleeping bag)
Cambridge (Pass the hot water bottle)
Notts County (We ran them ragged after they scored first and still only drew)
Swindon (1-0 up with ten men and scrape a draw.....just...)

Losses

Mansfield (that hurt)
Coventry (schooled in the second half....a right lesson given)

Wins

Carlisle
Barnet
Chesterfield
Port Vale
Accrington
Stevenage
FGR
Newport

Out of the 6 home draws we really seriously lost points against Morecambe, County and Swindon. Cambridge and Crawley were boring as hell, but in every season you get those cancelling out matches.

We could do nothing about the home defeats.

So by being realistic we should have had a further 6 points at home. Being very harsh, we should have had a further 6-10 points.

Anything you pick up on the road is a bonus.....but you have to pick up as many points as you can at home.

An excellent and very fair summary.

Thought Coventry could maybe have been a draw. We were the better side in the first half and seem to remember Green hitting the bar right after they got their equaliser.

No big arguments with the defeat though... they were a good side on the day and good value for the win.

Don't think it was Harry - I thought Greeny was when the ball was played into him in the box, at least that was my initial thought, but I was watching on i-Follow who get too close to the action most of the time instead of panning out a bit so you can see the bigger picture.

Think I’m right in saying that we drew 0-0 away at Cambridge the last time we were promoted out of this league?

Seem to remember a 0-0 many years ago when Cambridge missed two pens. Must have been in the mid 70’s

1 all Alcide scored. It was a Friday night February game too though.

Apparently they have now had three managers sacked after Friday night matches.

Re: ‘never doing well at cambridge’. I have always wondered why past results... with different management and different players [on both sides] have any bearing on current outcomes.

Yeah live on TV and Brazil was less than complimentary. Think it may have been scheduled as a Beck return to Cambridge but I’ve a feeling he’d been sacked by then?

He was sacked about a month later after a draw with Swansea, we lost the next game at Leyton Orient 1-0, Terry got sent off.
