First trip to Sincil Bank was Phil Neale testimonial against Watford 1984. First proper game was Lincoln 1 Hartlepool 4 05/10/86 on a Sunday. Can't remember anything of the game other than hooked for life. Stood on old West Bank. Smell of cigarettes is something you obviously dont get anymore but that's what sticks in my head more than anything else

Yes, standing in the Railway End and looking over to the bank of terracing, at intervals you'd see great clouds of tobacco smoke drifting down over the heads of the spectators.

A similar memory... in floodlit matches, when the ball went out of play, numerous small glows in the St Andrews stand as people lit their next ciggy.

My dad used to take me in the old south park stand and the smell of cigarettes was always strong in the air in there, but scary really considering what happened at Bradford.
