Belated Average Player Ratings for August!

Apologies for being a couple of weeks late on this one having headed into Europe prior to the Dartford fixture. Thanks to Jamie and Jules for keeping the threads and articles coming in the meantime and for those still interested, here is how the squad shaped up through a fruitful August which included four wins, one draw and one defeat!

Player of the month goes to Andrew Boyce, who has proven his worth since this summer's protracted contract/ transfer saga. Leading the way with an excellent mark of 7.74 (three scores of 8 or above in just six games), Boyce was a crucial part in guiding City to three clean sheets. Having built on some sturdy performances at the back end of last season, let`s hope this is a big season for the big man!

Second place goes to City's Duracell forward Ben Tomlinson, who is probably still running around somewhere now. His score of 7.28 comes after a brace against Wrexham and a strike at Datrford, as well as a man of the match (7.38) display against Macclesfield. The summer signing from Alfreton looks like an astute piece of business, especially if he backs his boundless energy up with the goals.

Waide Fairhurst (just three out of the six games) comes in at third largely thanks to his double against Forest Green and subsequent mark of 8.24. A couple of niggles and Simmo's desire to keep things a little tighter away from Sincil Bank have limited his game time, although Fairhurst has shown one or two signs that he knows where the net is. His average of 7.22 slid him just ahead of Sean Newton (7.04), who looks in pole position to take the spoils in September. The strong full back looks another brilliant acquisition and I look forward to noting down some more excellent scores as the season progresses.

With it being a good month of solid team performances, let's keep things positive and keep the main write-up to the high scorers. Here is how everyone else fared, however (apps only count when rated / late substitutions not included).
