Rate The Ref: Simon Bennett V Alfreton (H)
The referee for our game against Alfreton Town in the Skrill Premier Division on Tuesday night was Simon Bennett.
The lowest rating he got was a 3
which was given to him by oldguard
and here is why: 'A very poor Ref who needs to take a consistent approach. It was a lottery out there. Free kicks were awarded for physical challenges and then clear fouls were allowed to go unpunished. Following Williams caution, [I think it was Williams] Williams pointed his finger into the Refs face and basically gave the Ref a rollicking. A caution should have followed the first one for dissent and Williams should have gone. The Ref could have put his slippers on then and enjoyed an easy night. Sorry Ref but a poor display.'
And the highest rating he received was a 7
which was given to him by Steve O'Dare
. This is what Steve had to say: 'I'll give him 7/10. Got the major decision right. He was a bit fussy but overall he ran the game well and kept play moving where he could.'

.And here's some of the other comments:Rasenimp:
Didn't think he got anything monumental wrong (jury out on Akinde penalty shout but looked like he went down like a sack of spuds), but the bloke was absolutely mental on time wasting and couldn't get a throw in decision right in a million years.
He seemed to be telling Newton off for time wasting when he hadn't even got the ball, and gave Farman about 4 seconds to kick the ball away before carding him!'CrazyTuba:
'4/10 baffled me with the throw in decisions, and the time wasting card for Farman, apart from Jordan kicking the ball away was a joke!!! Got the penalty decisions right! But thought Akinde should have been booked for diving...'NottyImp:
'Newton was clearly saying 'I haven't got the ball yet!' to the ref. Was Farman for time-wasting? We assumed it must have been dissent.
Again the Co-op lino had no idea about throw-ins and waited for the refs decision most of the time.
6/10 from me as no major howlers.'JT_LCFC:
'No major howlers as stated but he had a period where he almost lost it in the second half and appears the type of ref who is very card happy.
'6/10 I thought he was OK. Thought some of the throw ins that most of the Co-Op thought were wrong were spot on; like the one that very lightly rolled off Millers chest. Thought their penalty shout was a good one though, their bloke might have gone down like a sack of spuds but it was a definite push.'Rate The Ref - Chris Kavanagh V Grimsby Town.Rate The Ref - Anthony Backhouse V FC Halifax Town.Rate The Ref - Darren Handley V Grimsby Town.Rate The Ref - Ross Joyce V Luton Town.
