'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Average Player Ratings V Welling (H)

City's unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday evening, as two goals within the space of three minutes saw Welling take the spoils at Sincil Bank. Vital users have been rating the performance in the aftermath.

Man of the match for the second time in four days was Nick Townsend (7.00), who put in another stellar performance with the gloves. The 19-year-old keeper produced two particularly outstanding saves to deny Welling and can be pleased with his evening despite a possible fumble in a messy second goal for the away side. Kingearls noted 'some good saves' while tornado imp called the performance 'steady'.

A fair way behind in second place was Alan Power (5.77), who put in a good shift for the Imps but ultimately failed to unlock the Welling door. The Irishman hasn't necessarily been at this best this season but put in a solid display and worked back well. Snats noted that 'aside from being allergic to jumping, he was easily our best outfield player on the night', although Luke Imp was less impressed and highlighted how many times he backed out of challenges when the ball was bouncing around in midfield!

The third best player was Dan Gray (5.69), mainly for his attacking exploits in the first 20 minutes I suspect! Gray did ok in his second start after Tom Miller's suspension and set up Kris Bright's opener with a bobbling cross, although you'd still expect Miller to come back in for the former Chesterfield man against Braintree unless City change systems. BrownImp thought Gray was 'ok' but lacked the attacking impetus and energy usually offered by Miller while Snats noted that Welling were 'immune' to his long throw-ins.

One or two players found it particularly tough going, such as Conner Robinson (3.92) who played against a particularly uncompromising right back in Loui Fazakerley. Ben Tomlinson was subdued (4.77), while Jon Nolan was a bit of a bystander for large periods after the first fifteen (4.85). A tough day at the office for the Imps.

A quick look at posters then, and the most cutting in terms of scoring was ImpfromWashy (4.62) while Red Wimp was out in front as the most generous poster with 5.77.
