Simon Yeo: One to Eleven

Simon Yeo: One to Eleven
Before a successful footballing career Yeo was part of the British Army where he toured Bosnia and Northern Ireland. After leaving the army the Stockport born forward played for a number of clubs but his career really kicked off after playing for Hyde United.

After leaving Hyde, Yeo had two spells at Sincil Bank with Lincoln City (between 2002-05 and 2005-06) which included a brief switch to New Zealand Knights. He made over 100 appearances and scored over 30 goals for the Lincolnshire side. The 2002-03 season was a special one for the striker as he scored a number of vital goals in the Third Division play-offs. Lincoln managed to get a 6-3 aggregate victory over Scunthorpe. The Imps went onto lose 5-2 in the final against Bournemouth.

In the 2006-07 season, Yeo signed for Peterborough United which was followed by a spell at Chester City. In 2008 the striker was given a move on loan to Manchester side, Bury. Towards the end of his Career Yeo played for a number of sides including Macclesfield, Droylsden and Harrogate Town.

Here's the strikers side full of great players he has played with.

Formation: 4-3-3

GK: Alan Marriott - 'Superb shot stopper, he always commands the 18 yard box.'

RB: Dean Holden - '6ft 2, a big, strong, quick fullback.'

CB: Paul Morgan - 'He's quick, and reads the game well. He always got us out of some sticky situations.. aka Mr Reliable.'

CB: Ben Futcher - 'No nonsense centre back. He clears his line well and even scored a few goals.'

LB: Gareth McAuley - 'A true leader. Nothing much got past him and also a very passionate player plus he could score.'

CM: Richard Butcher - 'The best engine I've ever seen. A box to box player who could score goals. He had the worst banter ever and he should have played at a higher level.'

CM: Peter Gain - 'Another fit lad who was a box to box player and also very skilful, he could pass the ball with quality.'

CM: Lee Frecklington - 'A young boy who was quick and enthusiastic. He was full of energy and had a great football head on him, which meant he could create and score goals!'

ST: Gary Taylor-Fletcher - 'Quick and very skilful, I use to love him running at defences because he could turn them inside out which meant he could create and make chances!'

ST: George Boyd - 'An intelligent, quick, skilful player with a very good footballing brain and he has scored a bag full of goals.'

ST: Aaron McLean - 'He was lightning fast, skilful and he could finish from any position in the attacking third. But boy could he strike a ball! Unbelievable power in a shot'
