Who Are Ya? - Gateshead FC

Who Are Ya? - Gateshead FC
Thank you to Gateshead FC Supporter Stewart for answering these questions!

How Long Have You Supported Gateshead FC?

Since their Unibond days!

Last Season's League Finish?

Ninth - again - I think we are doomed to finish 9th every season!

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

Mixed feelings as has everyone I think - brought in some good players at the beginning of the season, but seems to have had difficulty bonding them into an effective unit. Some strange decisions from Aspin - we had a great February and looked like we were heading for the playoffs, playing the traditional Gateshead passing game, and suddenly we're back being overly defensive and losing game after game to inferior opposition.

Most people feel he should be given another season (only!) because a number of key players were given 2 or 3 year contracts, and so with some sensible strengthening in weak areas Aspin ought to be able to make us contenders in 2017/2018.

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

We hoped and expected to make the playoffs, so it has been a disappointing season to be out of it by now - but some of the results were beyond belief - beaten twice by North Ferriby?

One(s) To Watch?

Liam Hogan at captain and centre back came from Tranmere and has probably been player of the season. Danny Johnson, our best forward and goalscorer, is unfortunately now out for the season. The talking point on Monday will be JJ O'Donnell, a speedy left winger and key member of the squad that got us to Wembley in 2014, who has suffered from a rare and career threatening injury for the last nearly 3 years; he's now fully recovered and started for the first time on Friday - if he gets on against the Imps the roof will lift off the stand, and I hope your guys will show their appreciation for his bravery too.

Top Five Predictions?

Ha-ha! Lincoln, Tranmere, Forest Green, Dagenham and Dover. Tranmere to win the playoff final - best team we've seen here this season apart from your reserves in the Trophy!

Bottom Four Predictions?

Southport & North Ferriby are gone - think Solihull will go too, and probably Braintree.

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

Excellent team from what I've seen on the TV, and on the evidence of the Trophy game up here - a Football League club that's on its way back to the Championship, possibly your correct level?

Score Prediction?

0-3 - none of us have good feelings about this game!

Random Fact About Your Club?

Our traditional strip is claret and blue, like Aston Villa or Burnley, and many fans continue to wear shirts in those colours.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Gateshead FC Supporter?

Proudest: Getting to the Playoff Final at Wembley in 2014 and coming within a goalpost of winning, before losing to Cambridge - great day out though!

Embarrassing: Too many to mention, although collapsing from 0-1 at half time to 0-7 at full time in the FA Cup Third Round to WBA (and mainly Berahino) wasn't very nice.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

No, but this is something many fans would like to see.

Which was your favourite match involving Gateshead FC?

Probably the Playoff Final at Wembley - we don't get many big days (so far!).

Which was your least favourite match involving Gateshead FC?

Losing 0-1 at home this season to a dreadful North Ferriby side made us all realise we had hugely over-rated our potential this season.
