Average Player Ratings v Exeter City (a)

Average Player Ratings v Exeter City (a)
Well, that was a long way to go for a 1-0 defeat. Last season we lost two of our first four games, and that turned out alright. At least we have got the first defeat back in the League out of the way. Now for the first win...

In the average player ratings article for the Morecambe game last week, I conjectured that it might be SEAN RAGGETT'S last appearance as a Lincoln City player. It was, but at least his parting gift was an outstanding performance and first place in the ratings. Well, this week he returned on loan as a Norwich City player; could he repeat last week's win?

Of course.

"Reads the game so well. Has really developed since last year into an excellent all- round defender. Poor deliveries meant he couldn't threaten in the opposition box." (PerthImp)

"Very good defensively, tried to get attacks started." (evenstephen)

"Norwich have a bargain!" (Impalex)

In second place is ALEX WOODYARD, who has now taken first, second, third and fourth place in the ratings in the first four games. Alex coasted to our Player of the Season title last year, but Raggett is giving him some serious competition, at least until January.

"Class act as ever, won the ball well, kept the ball well, tracked back, hassled the Exeter players throughout." (APHLCFC)

"Usual human dynamo." (Stevie_imp)

"Excellent throughout." (79imp)

Making his first appearance ever in the top three is SEAN LONG, who appears to be improving by the game. Suggestions that Neal Eardley will take his place in the side when Habergham returns at left back may be premature.

"Was impressive and always looking to get forward. Will be interesting what happens when Sam is back as to whether Eardley goes to right back. On this showing would be unfair on Sean." (Cricklewoodimp)

"A consecutive excellent game. Really blossoming now - or worried about his place - or both." (takeyourblueshirtoff)

"Solid and dependable. Linked up well with JDM." (PWould)

The average team score of 6.30 is the lowest of the season; only seven players achieved the par score of 6.0, with a wide disparity between the top and bottom ratings. The classic case of a side not firing on all cylinders.

1. Sean Raggett 7.80
2. Alex Woodyard 7.60
3. Sean Long 7.05
4. Matt Green 6.95
5. Neal Eardley 6.70
6. Luke Waterfall 6.40
7. Michael Bostwick 6.30
8. Paul Farman 5.90
9. Jordan Maguire-Drew 5.80
10. Billy Knott 5.66
11. Harry Anderson 5.556
12. Matt Rhead 5.550
13. Nathan Arnold 5.40
14. Ollie Palmer 5.22
