Average Player Ratings v Crawley Town (h)

Average Player Ratings v Crawley Town (h)
Always look on the bright side of life: we are 9th after 16 games, 3 points behind a play-off spot, and we have the second-best defence in the division. Four clean sheets in six league games is impressive.

Time to look at the dull side of life for a few minutes: Crawley Town.

So, not a great performance. Two points dropped at home against a poor side that may be lucky to be in the Football League this time next year. We have now scored one goal in our last four league games, and that was scored by a defender. Our strikers have scored just ONE goal from open play in the last FOURTEEN league games. Winger Harry Anderson has three in that time, and centre half Sean Raggett two.

So we would expect the goalkeeper and defence to dominate the ratings, then. Yup.

In first place comes... goalkeeper JOSH VICKERS, taking top spot for the first time. He has conceded just three goals in his seven league appearances, and appears to have made the No1 spot his own.

"Very good game again and had to be due to the suicidal behaviour of those in front of him." (Davidimp)

"Saved us on numerous occasions as the defence became suicidal." (IMP757)

"Got us out of jail a couple of times."
(Red Wimp)

In second place comes...a defender in the shape of NEAL EARDLEY, who has apparently triggered his contract extension. How close is he to being the first name on the team sheet now?

"Solid defensively, composed under pressure & now getting in some great crosses." (PerthImp)

"Excellent cross for the header which should have been buried." (German Imp)

"Solid as usual. Looked most likely to provide a goal scoring opportunity with his crossing." (APHLCFC)

In third place comes...another defender in the form of ROB DICKIE, who surely has done more than enough to persuade the club to make his transfer permanent in January.

"Composed, generally headed and passed to our players, nothing got past him." (berksimps)

"Not too much to do but did it well. Very comfortable on the ball." (elkimp)

"Decent game and looked to have defence under control." (Stevie_imp)

The average team rating of 5.85 is the lowest since the defeat at Barrow in January. Only 4 players achieved the par score of 6.0.

1. Josh Vickers 7.13
2. Neal Eardley 6.71
3. Rob Dickie 6.57
4. Matt Rhead 6.26
5. Michael Bostwick 5.97
6. Nathan Arnold 5.78
7. Sam Habergham 5.68
8. Ollie Palmer 5.65
9. Alex Woodyard 5.50
10. Billy Knott 5.36
11. Matt Green 5.31
12. Sean Raggett 5.21
13. Jordan Maguire-Drew 4.86
